I'm attempting to put together a pact for a Wood Elf warlock with a Great Old One patron, but I'm not sure what the patron would want, other than, potentially, a way into that plane of existence.
I'm also just interested to see what terms others have used as part of their warlocks pact.
According to the Great Old One description, your patron may not even be aware of your existence. You've picked a patron that could want nothing, a diversion from being bored, a servant to use to open a portal so that it can enter the plane and attempt to take over, or anything else. Have fun and be creative!
It will really depend on the nature of the Great Old One your character is connected to. Also, consider how they became connected. These are beings that cannot be exactly defined as Gods in the DnD sense, by being to inhuman to understand, so their motives can be just as inexplicable. Maybe they just find your character to be too adorable to be left undefended.
My warlock was possessed by Nyarlathotep (Lovecraft deity, also known as the Crawling Chaos) for a short time and was altered because of it. Now he gets the occasional mission from his patron, while having the standing order to sew minor amounts of chaos through the land. As an example, I have convinced one of my party members that I am three gnomes in a suit. Also drove a man to madness by giving him a ten sided die that rolls from 1 to 11.
The one i homebrewed required drenched body part/s to be offered to it each day at midnight and the nature of it doesn't matter as long as it's not rotten.

Born under the watch of something from the furthest corners of the far realms.... It knows all.... it sees all... and it asks: "What is it that you want to see?"... and my answer is... ALL"
Thanks guys! I finally figured out the main thing that the patron has the warlock do. He has to kill squirrels. All of them. Whereever they are, they are evil and coniving to conquer the world.

Hm, I hadn't considered it might be bored...

I tend to think that the terms of a pact tend to reflect the patron.
An Elder Brain may want a telepathic link to the surface in order to find good locations to raid for brains.
The Goat of a Thousand Young might want a tree planted for every 20 miles traveled.
Fierna, Duchess of Hell, may prefer the occasional party thrown in her owner (she is the party girl of Hell after all)
Fierna is the best Duchess of Hell
