I'm working on a campaign that takes place on a Dyson Sphere (think Halo meets Dark Sun meets John Carter of Mars) and I'm having trouble finding a place for fey creatures.
No big deal for building encounters, but I want to keep as many options open for my players as possible and the fluff for the arch-fey simply doesn't fit, at least not yet.
Any ideas how I'd give that patron a Space Fantasy twist?
Comosologically you could make the Fey into Neutral Extraplaners.
Good: Celestials
Neutral: Fey
Evil: Fiends
Spirits of the Dyson Sphere, could be Fey. I don't know how "scifi" you're going... if there are computers you could Skin the Fey has sentient machines and computer programs.
When I think of the Archfey with a space fantasy twist, Q (from Star Trek) and Mister Mxyzptlk (from DC comics) immediately comes to mind. As they both share similar qualities with them, such as being inter-dimensional creatures with a slant for trickery in addition to their vast knowledge and wide array of powers. Alternatively you could also look into the Vorlons and the Shadows of Babylon 5, though they may more be in line with a space fantasy version of celestials and fiends.
Fey are the Ancient races that built the Dyson Sphere and have ascended into a higher plane (Fey Wild) or uploaded to the equivalent "computer"? Similar ideas in the book Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny where "nirvana" is actually a computer environment where minds are stored in satellites orbiting the planet. Reading the Wikipedia entry alone for the book could give you some ideas of handling demons, etc. in a space fantasy.
