So I have a Warlock build that will be mostly Warlock, but a dip into Bard. Should I go 3 or 5 levels of Bard, and when would be the best time to do so?
As for Bard probably Whispers slightly reflavored to work with Warlock Celestial.
Spells, cantrips, inspiration, jack of all trades all come with Bard, I say 3 or 5 because 3 would be one cut off to still eventually get a 9th level Warlock spell, but 5th would get an ASI and inspiration resetting on a short rest.
Yeah that's tough. I think a lot of it kinda just depends on the campaign. Nothing about this screams min/max or synergistic build. The only thing that screams super useful to me about the Bard paired with a warlock is Catnap, and only then if you can cast it on yourself which I do not know if you can. Not sure it is worth taking 5 levels in bard for that though. I would suggest 17 in warlock and then decide if you really want the 3 in bard.

Is there a different class dip that would work better? Maybe Grave Cleric (thinking of the healing synergy)

What subclasses are you planning on and what are you hoping to get out of bard?

There are some interesting mechanics for the grave cleric. The only issue is then you're pumping charisma and wisdom.
Have you considered divine soul sorcerer? Six or seven levels in that could make for an interesting multi class. Both are on charisma.
Will take a look, thanks.
I have a level a divine soul sorcerer build...

but I think I would go 14 Warlock Celestial and 6 Divine Soul, take 4 levels Warlock, then 6 divine soul, then finish Warlock
