I know Dendar is suggested as a Great old one but i don't think she fits into that category plus i love her so i think she deserves her own subclass. I don't think she is a goolock patron because she is very much fathomable and real, or at least feels a lot more real. I think she has similar qualities and expresses herself in similar ways but i think is altogether different. I will be leaning more into the nightmare/scary parts over the snake but feel free to make suggestions.
1 st level, Servant of the night, You are no longer forced to sleep and magic that would force you to do so is ineffective. You also gain the ability to speak to snake and other serpentine beings, you do not need to share a common language.
1st level, nightmare eater. As a reaction when an enemy within 30 feet of you fails a saving throw against a spell or ability that deals psychic damage, you can absorb their nightmares. Gain temporary hit points equal to half the damage dealt (rounded down).
spell list
dissonant whispers, sleep phantasmal force, darkness hypnotic pattern, fear phantasmal killer, confusion Modify memory, dominate person
6th level
?
10th level, Emissary of the night serpent. You gain resistance to poison damage and deal an extra 1d8 poison damage on melee attacks.
14th level
You gain the ability to weave a shroud of nightmarish energy around yourself. As an action, you can envelop a creature within 30 feet in this shroud.
The target must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Charisma modifier). On a failed save, the creature is plagued by vivid nightmares for 1 minute. During this time:
The creature has disadvantage on attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws.
Any healing it receives is halved.
It takes psychic damage equal to your Charisma modifier at the start of each of its turns.
Once you use this feature, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.
Please feel free to make suggestions, i really like the idea and I hope you do as well.
