Hello guys, this is more a question about D&D in general but the case arose with my warlock.
Improved Pact WeaponXGtE57
Your pact weapon can be your spellcasting focus, gains a +1 bonus to its attack and damage rolls (unless it already has a magic bonus), and can be a shortbow, longbow, light crossbow, or heavy crossbow.
So you add a +1 to all the attack rolls and damage rolls when you take the attack action
The question is do you also add a +1 to all the attack rolls and damage rolls when you take an opportunity attack such as when an enemy try to get out of your reach (or enter your reach if you have PAM)?
Polearm Master - Bonus Attack
When you take the Attack action with a glaive, halberd, quarterstaff, or spear, you can use a bonus action to make a melee attack with the opposite end of the weapon that uses the same ability modifier as the primary attack and has a damage die of d4 (bludgeoning).
In this case do I add all the bonus of a normal attack so do I also add the Improved Pact Weapon bonuses?
An attack roll is what you roll to see if you hit with an attack. It has nothing to do with how you are making that attack. Whether it's taking the attack action, making an opportunity attack, or some other feature that lets you make an attack, you're making an attack roll. Improved pact weapon applies the +1 to attack (and damage) rolls, not the attack action.
For polearm mastery, it specifies that the damage die for the opposite end is a D4. Other than changing the damage die, the weapon attack happens as normal. Things like +1 from magic weapons, paladin smites, and weapon attack cantrips (like booming blade) still happen as normal with the opposite end. The +1 from improved pact weapon would just be part of this. There might be cases where the DM might not let you apply certain effects if it doesn't make sense, but those are exceptions decided by the DM.

The weapon on all its attacks is a +1. The pointy end. The butt end. On a reaction. All of it. Enjoy.
