Ok so I’ve been playing a Human variant hexblade in a awesome campaign and we’ve gotten to lvl 6 and their pact was just fulfilled. My DM has given me the option to either transfer to a different class at lvl 6 or to start multiclassing. The character and their patron didn’t part on good terms so it would feel weird for their magic to stay the same but I worry about switching to a different class with different ability scores. I want character continuity. What multiclasses well with hexblade?

I would think a sorcerer or perhaps paladin or fighter type class would work well with hexblade, or maybe ask your dm about finding a different patron so you can continue being a warlock instead, though perhaps with some changed abilities.
What multi-class works best with Hexblade? All of them. You ought to be able to apologize to your patron and stay a Warlock, you ought to be able to pick whatever class you like, or multi-class with any one of them.
I made up a Battle Master Fighter who switched into Warlock at third level, got three levels worth of Warlock, and created the character at 6th level using the Tool at D&D provides. I gave her a +2 Rod of the Pact Keeper, a +2 Rapier, and a +2 Dagger. She has Precision Strike, Riposte, and Trip Attack, her Eldritch Blast is Agonizing, and she has Devil's Sight. She is of course, a Half-Elf.
Someday I might get to play her. It looks like she'd be a pretty effective character. There's no way to take her weapons away from her, and she's good at using them.
You can tell any story you want to. Maybe you seek out a different patron. Or maybe the use of magic is part of you now, and you become a sorcerer? Or Swashbuckler bard, or a Paladin. I bet you could justify Oathbreaker Paladin as a reaction to the breakup.
I'd consider a different patron and keep the class. Thematically, it seems smoother. If you want to multiclass after that, then go ahead and further your story.
