My DM is beginning the end of a massive storyarc in which precious little will survive. He's giving us options to survive ourselves, as well as some freedom is finding our own offbeaten path. My (level 12) Hexblade Warlock isn't one who would go quietly into the night. He wouldn't vanish without a fight. He'd try to live on. He'd try to survive. He'd try to find a measure of independence from mortality.
I realize Lichdom is probably off the table -- which is unfortunate. I do, however, have one thing on my hands that most Warlocks do not. I can craft spells that are not divine in nature because my DM has allowed MCDM's Strongholds and Followers, and my Warlock made a Tower. Is there a spell I should work toward that could offer me that blessed immortality?
In terms of spell crafting I think Clone is your obvious route, in terms of what you could achieve with official spells - barring DM endorsing a one time casting of Wish.
However, given the leap from warlock to the highest echelon of wizardry, I would suggest you pitch a fitting Boon of Immortality condition i.e.
Some unbreakable quest or contract with your patron
Binding your existence to a specific weapon in such a way that upon your (final) death your consciousness will reside within it forever as a 'sentient weapon'
Or, if you don't want something so grand/don't think they'd agree, maybe pitch a survival loophole such as your consciousness residing within your bonded weapon until someone (presumably a comrade who is going to survive) recites your name three times to summon you back out with your body unaffected by the passage of time. Maybe if someone else has a solution which will involve them secluding themselves you could make a fun double-act!
Clone is really cool and offers neat implications of where to hide the clone, who to make pacts with to keep it hidden, etc. I didn't know about Clone to begin with. Thanks! I've considered the stuff in regards to the Hexblade. I think I'm going to spend a few days pondering that. I think even when Ragnarok happens, the character's Hexblade will survive even if he doesn't given the sword's lore. I can work with that.
Well I can give two ways this can go, neither really official things but flavorful.
There's legendary swords that have granted immortality. Hexblades get power from sentient weapons, so it isn't to different, other than talking instead of just being magic. In some cases it isn't even the sword that's magic, in some cases that have been misunderstood such as Excalibur, the hilt granted the holder immortality (the sword was just bragging rights). Saying that it has a minor effect of immortality could be a nice flavor, especially if you didn't start off with possession of your patron, getting to say he has the power to grant immortality at the end if you actually get a hold of them.
Second idea is that it takes great power to make a sentient weapon. The Raven Queen made the most notable ones, and the weapons themselves can even grant powers, so they aren't weak beings. Maybe they have bestowed immortality upon you, like how the undying grants much slower aging. Maybe even a step ahead, the creator of the weapon granted you immortality. I mean, the Raven Queen is strong to.
See if you can work out some sort of reincarnation as a Warforged.
As a Warforged Hexblade (Tome Pact), I can just hang out underwater (or in my portable hole) for centuries, since I don't need to eat, drink or breathe, or sleep, and I have no known lifespan.
Greetings, friends.

Also known as CrafterB and DankMemer.
Here, have some homebrew classes! Subclasses to? Why not races. Feats, feats as well. I have a lot of magic items. Lastly I got monsters, fun, fun times.

Unfortunately, our setting doesn't have Warforged. :(
