The current UA just come out with a host of summoning spells available to the Warlock. I'm leaning toward Shadow Spirit Spirit.
The Despair Shadow has a useful feature in Weight of Ages that reduces movement by 20' for beasts and humanoids. The Dreadful scream would be also useful if you could get your shadow into the middle of the battlefield.
I don't really know which is best, but I can tell you that my GOO Tomelock is super stoked to summon an emissary from the Far Realms on a whim. My DM and I have been bantering back and forth about the spirit being a sort of opener of the way to more esoteric knowledge. As far as the stats go, I think they are all good and I love the scaling baked into each spell. I am excited to play more with them once quarantine is lifted!

I'd think your warlock pact would help determine the best fit. I'll say, this is what summoning spells always should have been.
