Been playing my warlock for a few sessions now and took pact of the blade to do something different to standard blaster lock and as part of my story I have been practicing heaps to get better with my pact weapon (glaive) so was thinking of taking a dip into fighter to get great weapon fighter and the action surge. But I was thinking one more level could get me a fighter archetype so my question is would eldritch knight or battle master be better? Eldritch knight gives more spell slots and spell options but battle masters utility seems so good. Thanks for an input
This is a good tactic, and I find it works very well. Going 3 in fighter to get battle master makes life really fun, as you can pump out masses of damage, and have advantage a lot.

'The Cleverness of mushrooms always surprises me!' - Ivern Bramblefoot.
Thematically Echo Knight or Eldritch Knight for more spell slots are also good choices. Echo Knight IMO, is the best subclass...Battlemaster is great for the extra dice and special moves. I just think if you are going for something different, try one of the other two, you also get action surge.
I've been trying to find away to put the Gloom Stalker 3 as a viable option. No action surge but dread ambusher gives you a Bonus Action attack and invisible to dark vision is awesome.
I am trying this out as well tonight. For my new character I have an Eldritch Knight fighter that has gone into Warlock with Celestial patron for the bonus healing and will take pact of the tome next level. She will be an interesting fighter / caster and backup healer.
If you're a Bladelock who wants to dip into Fighter specifically to get better with your weapon, I think the most appropriate subclasses would probably be Champion, Battle Master or Samurai.
