warlock starting equipment grants you acess to two simple weapons, for a person who already has eldrich blast and who will likely never use a weapon again, what should i do with these weapon slots? What is a good way to explain how i got them if i happen to be an scholarly fellow who avoids physical confrontations?

i am soup, with too many ideas (all of them very spicy) who has made sufficient homebrew material and character to last an thousand human lifetimes
Walking stick/cane for staff and/or mace (use the lumpy bit that you’d normally bang into skills as your hand rest instead), plus a decent knife because you don’t have access to scissors or a multi tool.
That gets you justification for staff, mace, dagger. A crossbow is a simple mechanical tool, hand axe or hammer are for woodcutting and basic maintenance. How many more do you want? :)
I don't care if you're a Warlock/ Sorc/ Wizard/ Cleric who hangs out with your god at the local cafe during downtime. Keep a weapon on you.
Because for every smarmy "I'm a caster, I don't need a weapon!" there are 10 DMs who will put you in an antimagic field where you will be nothing more than a target and a liability to the rest of the party. At least you have a chance to do something with that crossbow, sling or dagger in that situation.
Take the light crossbow and a spear. It's the most flexible weapon on the simple spell list, being a quarter staff that can be thrown. If you're a hexblade you can make it your hex weapon until you find something better.

Ask your DM if he will just give you the value of the weapons in gold instead.
Always. Always. Always keep a weapon on you.

I'd keep the two daggers.
