My DM is offering to let me (level 5 Dhampir Hexblade Pact of the Blade Warlock) choose between Cloak of Displacement and Mantle of Spell Resistance. I'm not sure which one to go for. I've got 38 HP, so in the short run Displacement seems like the better option, since we'll mostly be facing melee/ranged physical combatants. But bosses are sure to use magic. Which one should I go with? I've put both on my character sheet for the time being for those who don't know that items they are offhand.
You're a warlock - outside of some serious nonsense levels of magic item stacking, your AC will never be amazing. The Displacer cloak can help, but it shuts off after a single successful hit. The Spellbuster Cape never shuts off, and succeeding on a save against magic is usually (usually, not always...but usually) more impactful than avoiding one attack. Especially for dhampir who're unusually vulnerable to enemy divine casters.
I would pick the cloak of displacement. Horror themed creatures tend to use attacks and innate abilities rather than spells so you will get the most use out of it.
One other in this coming adventure. I haven't been told what his class will be, just that we're fighting were wolves, vampires, and other horrors.
With only one other melee teammate to share the brunt of melee attacks, and a bunch of enemies likely to be heavier on melee attacks than on spells, I think the Cloak of Displacement is a better choice in this situation.

Thank you for your time.
Mantle of Spell Resistance.

How many other melee people are in your party? How much of the brunt of the attacks do you take as a melee player?
