I am joining a game as a level 7 wizard and am being given the option of picking one rare magic item (Arcane Grimoire) and one uncommon magic item (TBD) or one very rare magic item (Tome of Clear Thought). In terms of spell DC and attack, the Arcane Grimoire is better than the Tome, though the latter would affect intelligence saves and skill checks. Additionally, permanent stat increases have tended to be rare in the games I've played in, so taking the 2 points of intelligence now may be a better long-term investment. What do others think?
I would jump on the Tome of Clear Thought. That’s an incredibly powerful option for a wizard!
Thanks, I appreciate the input. One further review, the intelligence would help in some other ways (skill checks, saves, prepared spells), though not as good for spell DC or attack.
