Can some of you guys give me a hand here, I wanna multiclass with a wizard and a cleric as a roleplaying thing and I need some help making a backstory for it.
One possibility is to have the PC parents be one or the other. then start in that class and get a calling to multiclass into the other.
"My parents are really religious. I mean like really into it. Mom is a Paladin and Dad is a section Priest. They raised me in the teachings of the Silver Flame from birth. I did all the initiation rites and even had some training in the the faith (1-2 levels). Then, while trying to council a couple who was having trust issues a man walked up to me and said to ask the woman how she felt about having children. The woman was surprised at the question but confided that she was not interested in childbearing. The man was surprised as well and they left my council in a heated discussion on the topic. After that incident I saw the man again and asked him how he knew that was the issue. He explained that he was a wizard and had used a spell (Detect Thoughts) to get to the root of her issue. While shocked at the casual invasion of privacy I agreed that the information did help with their problem."
"This intrigued me enough that I sought out the local magic guild and sought information. I am now training in the arcane. I have not yet told my parents for I am afraid of their response. If I can gain a little more control with the spells I feel i can show them I have talent in this area and that may make them more receptive to my continuing in the arcane arts."
Take acolyte as a background, but when arranging stats pay attention to both WIS and INT.
Build on that or spin it a different direction as you will.

Don't forget to get proficiency in the Religion skill. What's a clergy character without knowing that.
I think I need a little more to go on. What is the world, campaign, race, gender. Is the party meeting on some world-saving mission or just running across each other in a tavern looking for work etc?
What subclasses are you going to take, do you know what background you want and skills or tools important?
I can certainly come up with something based on just wizard+cleric, but it is your character and you need to relate to it so a little more guidance would help.
