A Few questions I wanted to ask, mainly how did I do on this guy. I had fun with making him, although there are a few things I’m working on just wanted to get your guys feedback?
1 - Is the backstory to long or two short?
2 - Is 40 gold to much to start off with?
3 - I can use a staff as a weapon right? I’m asking because I was originally gonna use a quarter staff but I don’t think my guy strong enough to do that… speaking of which would a good subclass be a monk for him.
4 - One of the weapons I thought about giving him a Staff of Fire, I believe that’s what it’s called, but I felt that was over doing or am I just being worried for nothing?
5- Any other good spells for him later down the line? I know I'm gonna have to get mage armor and stuff but i’m trying to focus on more Fire spells.
6 - if your dnd character had a favorite ice cream what would it be. It could something made up of you want.
Me, as a Free Account user, cannot see the backstory from your char. So, if you can post in another way that story, let me see the reason you've adquired those rare items PLUS the gold. Or perhaps, do you ever played a Homebrewed campaign in which you've collected those items ???
I suggest you should get the Prodigy FEAT just to allow your Mage get extra knowledge in Arcana. I mean, you should try be Expertise in ARCANA checks, which it allows you to roll better while using the spells Detect Magic and/or Dancing Lights over the selected area ( and who knows ) get better results in magic damage.
Yes, you can use your great Quarterstaff as a weapon too, just using the DEX modifier instead of the STR, but if you ever noticed it, there are knives in you r backpack you can also use them as a tool or as a weapon. ( using the previous described DEX mod )
About the later spells you are asking about, at this point I should ask you, what Magic college you gonna be proficient with ? So, depending in which one you gonna choose, I can suggest getting Shield if you don't focus in being proficient in Abjuration; or Catapult if you don't wanna focus in being proficient in the Transmutation school; and get Crown of Madness if you are planning in being a pretty evil wizard.
My fav. icecream is a multi tastes one ( like MINT + Black CHOCO + VANILLA + STRAWBERRY ) and applying a liquor over it for an extra delicious taste.
Wizards without proficiency in Arcana checks are only a Magic stick with 0 charges on it.

Unanswerable, can't see it.
Your inventory indicates you are cheating. You can choose, absent DM intervention, your starting gear from the wizard class or your starting gold, one or the other. Your starting gold means you start totally nude except for Background gear, and for a wizard it's 4d4x10 gp, which is 100 gp, on average. Those magic items I see in your inventory are blatant cheating.
I have no idea what you mean. All staves are quarterstaves unless stated otherwise; because this is not stated otherwise for your Arcane Focus staff, it is also a Quarterstaff, and can be wielded as one.
Taking any magic item in chargen without DM permission is cheating.
