My curiosity got me and as I was reading through the rules of the new Bladesinger (Pg 26, Heroes of Faerun) compared to the former version (Pg 76-77 Tasha's cauldron of everything), I realized you do not get proficiency in light armor but instead get proficiency with every martial weapons without the heavy or two-handed property. They kept the no two-handed melee attack through. Nice they made the blade now use your intelligence instead of strength or dexterity.
I was curious about the lore or mechanical reason of the no light armor anymore. Anyone know?
I would imagine they felt that getting to add your Intelligence modifier to your AC on top of light armor was a bit much.
It's worth noting that since it's defined as a bonus to AC (not an alternative base AC calculation) it can still be applied on top of any special unarmored base AC that one might get from a species trait, another class, a non-armor magic item, etc.
