Hey everyone im playing Curse of Strahd as a wizard primarily using fire spells. Im level 3 atm, soon to be lvl 4 possibly and was wondering whats everyones thoughts on either getting the feat elemental adept for fire or getting max Int.
At first i was going to get to 20 Int and just max it straight away however we have fought a couple now resistant to fire so i wasnt really useful.
Elemental Adept is not a very good feat. A great benefit of Wizards is that you can easily learn new spells if you have the proper time and gold for it. I recommend diversify your blast spells a little bit. Being a fire caster can still be your thing, but there’s no problem to add some Thunderwave or Magic Missile.
Dragon’s Breath applied to your Familiar is a great way to improve your damage with good flexibility whenever you find fire resistant creatures.
Unless you are thematically playing a pyromancer I wouldn't take elemental adept, especially in curse of strahd. If you are on the fence about another full point to your INT modifier then pick a useful feat. Ive found telekinesis is incredibly useful. You get a point to your INT, you get invisible mage hand and you get telekinetic shove as a bonus action. That comes in clutch when a bad guy gets too close plus you still can cast a full spell after using it.
