Hi all, i'm playing in a RotFM game. Got my kenku enchanter to level 2. Any spells i should def get? Any strats i should be using.
Currently my plan is to use create bonfire and grease to lock down areas for the melees and use hypnotic gaze to stunlock an enemy bruiser. I'd like to have a plan b for when that doesn't work.
I would say to get the “basic survival package” for low level Wizards and then invest in any kind of spells that fit your style.
The “basic survival package” is Find Familiar, Shield, Mage Armor and Sleep.
Shield and Mage Armor are defensive staples and I don’t think you need me sell you in those spells.
Find Familiar is often considered one the best spells in the game, definitely the best ritual. You can use your familiar to give the Help Action for you or some allies (Rogues would love this!) and make them attack with advantage - get yourself a Raven and treat him as a child for your Kenku, hehe.
Sleep is outstanding at levels 1, 2 and maybe 3 (definitely do not prepare that after level 4+). 5d8 without savings can be a game changer.
Well the other wizard has sleep and used it fairly well. So i dont want to step on his toes.
So far, i've been using Grease at choke points to keep enemies from surrounding us and to prone a few. Then i'll use Create Bonfire to increase the area denial and maybe do a little damage. I think i'm going to start adding Minor Illusion to the mix to give me hiding spots and add to area denial, and Unseen Servant to maybe pour oil on mobs to add damage.

Hey! Awesome race choice - Kenku rocks.

So is there any other strat i can use,
At low levels Tasha’s Hideous Laugher can be really good. Thunderwave is also a solid AoE option.
