Weapon (sniper rifle), legendary (requires attunement)

The rifle is long and slender, forged from argent steel lined with veins of luminous sapphire. When aimed, faint halos of pale gold ripple across the air around its barrel. Its scope hums softly, a heartbeat that slows in rhythm with the wielder’s breath. Every pull of the trigger decides whether the world gains a life or loses one.

You gain a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls with this weapon.

If you are attuned to Eravale's Final Mercy, you gain the following benefits:

Malice and Mercy from Afar: Your range while with Erevale’s Final Mercy is doubled to (200/800). Whenever you score a critical hit you gain a stack of Focus. For each stack of Focus you have, you gain a +1 on attack rolls with Eravale's Final Mercy and your range with Eravale's Final Mercy increases by (20/80), to a maximum benefit of 10 stacks(400/1600).

Merciful and Malicious 'Munitions: Before you make an attack with Eravale's Final Mercy, you can expend 1 stack of Focus and declare whether the shot is a Mercy shot or Malice shot.

Mercy Shot. The target is healed for an amount equal to the damage the shot would have dealt and gains temporary hit points equal to your Dexterity score. A creature can benefit from this healing only once per long rest. You can use this feature only while you are actively engaged in combat with at least one hostile creature.

Malice Shot. The attack deals an additional 1d6 radiant or necrotic damage (your choice) for every stack of Focus you currently have remaining after paying the cost, to a maximum benefit of 10 stacks.

This item is part of the Eravale's Legacy Set, granting it bonuses if you have the other items equipped:

If you are attuned to Eravale's Shroud:
Beyond Mercy and Malice: While aiming through the scope of Erevale’s Final Mercy, you gain Truesight out to the weapon’s long range. You can perceive creatures and objects behind up to 20 feet of solid material, and you can see into the Ethereal Plane while using the scope. Additionally your attacks with Erevale’s Final Mercy now ignore all forms of cover, including full cover. Your bullet can pierce through up to 5 feet of material when firing through full cover. For every 5 feet beyond this limit, a -5 modifier is added to your attack roll.

If you are attuned to Eravale's Vestment:
Through Mercy and Malice: When you make an attack with Erevale’s Final Mercy, you can expend 5 Focus stacks to fire a piercing shot that cuts through all in its path. This shot forms a line 5 feet wide and extends up to the weapon’s short range (normally 200 feet, plus any increases from Focus stacks). Make a single attack roll for this shot and compare the result against the AC of every creature in that line. If the attack has advantage or would trigger an additional effect, such as a critical hit, that effect applies to all creatures hit. You also choose whether this shot is Through Mercy Shot or Through Malice Shot before rolling.

Through Mercy Shot. Each creature hit is healed for an amount equal to the damage the shot would have dealt and gains temporary hit points equal to your Dexterity score. A creature can benefit from this healing only once per long rest. You can use this feature only while you are actively engaged in combat with at least one hostile creature.

Through Malice Shot. Each creature hit takes normal damage from the attack, plus 1d6 radiant or necrotic damage (your choice) for every Focus stack remaining after paying the cost, to a maximum benefit of 10 stacks.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until the start of your next turn.

All Focus stacks last for 1 minute. If you enter initiative, you lose all Focus stacks.

An instrument of ranged precision, the Sniper Rifle can take shots from distant, nearly invisible ranges.

This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.

Sighted. Attacking at long range with this weapon doesn’t impose Disadvantage on your attack rolls. When you hit a creature with an attack using this weapon at long range, you can reroll any of the damage dice and must use the new roll.
