This weapon does 1d8 of fire damage on a successful hit instead of the 1d8 of piercing damage a longbow normally does. Once you are attuned to this weapon, you will be granted 60 special arrows to use for the Wrath of the Ancients. You can regain these arrows with a long rest, but only after they have been depleted.
Upgrades
You may upgrade this weapon by following one of four upgrade paths. You choose a path once you have been attuned to this weapon. and it cannot be changed. When it is upgraded, this weapon becomes a +3 longbow.
Storm. Make 10 successful attacks with this weapon during rain, a thunderstorm, or against any creature with a weakness to lightning damage. Reward. Receive 75 Storm Arrows. Your weapon now deals 2d8 lightning damage. Charge Attack. This attack consumes 5 Storm Arrows. Choose a point you can see that is within 120 feet of you. All creatures within a 15 foot radius of that point must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or be struck by lightning, dealing 6d6 lightning damage, or half as much on a successful save.
Wolf. Reduce 5 undead or dog-like creatures to 0 hit points. Reward. Receive 75 Wolf Arrows. Your weapon now deals 2d10 piercing damage. Charge Attack. This attack consumes 5 Wolf Arrows. You summon a spectral dog beside you. You may use an action to send the dog towards one target. That target must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or be attacked by your dog, dealing 4d8 piercing damage, or half as much on a successful save.
Fire. Make 10 successful attacks with this weapon when under direct sunlight, in a desert or arid climate, or against any creature that has a weakness to fire damage. Reward. Receive 75 Fire Arrows. Your weapon now deals 2d10 fire damage. Charge Attack. This attack consumes 5 Fire Arrows. Choose up to three targets. Each target must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw or be surrounded by a ring of fire. Each target then takes 4d6 fire damage on the start of their turns, and every subsequent turn. They may roll the same Dexterity saving throw at the end of each of their turns to escape the ring of fire.
Void. Reduce 5 aberration or plane-shifting creatures to 0 hit points. Reward. Receive 75 Void Arrows. Your weapon now deals 2d8 necrotic damage. Charge Attack. This attack consumes 5 Void Arrows. Choose a point you can see within 120 feet of you. Five floating skulls spawn from a dimensional portal at the point you selected. They cannot be attacked, nor do they have a physical form. You may use an action to send any number of these skulls to any number of targets. Each skull has 50 feet of flying speed, +6 to hit, and can deal 1d8 necrotic damage. After each skulls attacks, they disappear.
Proficiency with a Longbow allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
This weapon has the following mastery property. To use this property, you must have a feature that lets you use it.
Slow. If you hit a creature with this weapon and deal damage to it, you can reduce its Speed by 10 feet until the start of your next turn. If the creature is hit more than once by weapons that have this property, the Speed reduction doesn’t exceed 10 feet.
