Wondrous Item, rare (requires attunement by a spellcaster)

This cloak is designed for spellcasters who like to get in the heat of battle.  It is the magic counterpart of a warrior's chain mail armor.  Wizards are usually not trained to use clanky armor or big, flashy swords, so they rely on magical means to thrive in battle, including spells, and magic items.  While wearing it, you gain the following benefits:

  • You can cast mage armor on yourself at will.  When you roll initiative and enter combat, you can immediately cast mage armor on yourself before any creature takes its first turn.
  • This cloak has 4 charges.  While holding it, you can expend 1 or more of its charges to cast the magic missile spell from it.  For 1 charge, you cast the 1st-level version of the spell.  You can increase the spell slot level by 1 for each additional charge you expend.
  • You have advantage on Constitution Saving Throws that you make to maintain concentration on a spell.
  • When you make a damage roll with one of your cantrips, roll a d6, and you gain a bonus to one damage roll equal to the number rolled.
  • You gain a +1 bonus to AC and a +2 bonus to saving throws if you aren't incapacitated.
  • Once per short rest, you can cast counterspell using the cloak, as if you were using a 3rd-level spell slot.
  • Once per long rest, you can gain a bonus to AC and saving throws equal to your spellcasting ability modifier.

You can use this cloak as a spellcasting focus for any spells that you can cast.

The cloak regains 1d4 charges at the end of a long rest.  At the end of a short rest, you can regain 1 charge, but you can regain charges this way again until you finish a long rest.
