Yeah, but it's always funnier for the wizard to smack an enemy accross the room with nothing but the dagger he got in his starting equipment. Plus in my experience, if you allow character to roll for stats, which almost every dm (including myself) does. between their highest ability score and whatever racial bonuses they may add, their strength modifier is generally already at a +4 which pretty much makes the gloves on a martial character kind of a moot point.
They are a wonderous item which doesn't specify their construction but they do not count as armor. While the DDB picture shows them being plate, gauntlet just means glove. Japanese gauntlets were made of leather as are falconry gauntlets. As with everything, talk to your DM about their construction but don't assume they must be plate by default.
Side note: The Gauntlets of Flaming Fury (Avernus) specify they are made of steel. Gauntlets of Ogre Power do not specify.
I'm confused. I gave these to a Monk and they are in use, but it doesn't seem to have changed anything on the character sheet (which still lists Strength at 10). I'm fine with just adjusting things myself if I need to, but I thought the D&D Beyond character sheets took care of this. Am I doing something wrong?

🎶Ogre there, ogre there....🎶
Thes gauntlets, jeez, they are just ogrepowered.
I need this a lot. my strength is 6.
also, how much does it cost
I got it the other way around, I got the hammer but not the belt or gauntlets
Most melee fighters will have 18 on their strengh score by level 4, so it wouldn’t make a lot of difference for them.

IM OGRELOADING WITH PUNS
What if you only have one hand?
Interestingly enough, "Buff Handwear" was the name of the character that originally made these gauntlets as well.
Wait, are these Wondrous or Uncommon?
Both
Question
I and a group of friends are debating whether the gauntlets only affect your arm or your body's strength
and whether the effect of strength reduction from the wish overwrites it.
Get a prosthetic? Surely you could equip a gauntlet over one.

Do they count as armor? Because I‘d like to also wear the Bracers of Defense which I only can when I don‘t wear any armor.

no
My DM decided these were also _Gauntlets of Ogre Mentality_, so I hope they're not also cursed.
Gonna give these to my gnome paladin.
