Ring, very rare (requires attunement)
While wearing this ring, you regain 1d6 hit points every 10 minutes, provided that you have at least 1 hit point. If you lose a body part, the ring causes the missing part to regrow and return to full functionality after 1d6 + 1 days if you have at least 1 hit point the whole time.
Notes: Regain 1d6 Hit Points Every 10 Minutes, Regrow Lost Body Parts, Healing, Jewelry
You only get half your level worth of hit dice back per day, and can hoard up to your level... Just auto-healing 6d6/hr is pretty nice.
Is there a platypus controlling him?
And got records on their fingers and now they just can't stop, as there's a platypus controlling them?
The fictional history of the ring from R. A. Salvatore's Cleric Quintet series makes this artifact much more powerful, allowing it to repair any wound taken while the ring is worn, even returning several characters to life after receiving mortal wounds. I guess, for game balance, the item had to be nerfed.
I personally feel that this item is deserving of its Very Rare, as it's real merits are outside of combat, not in. Depending on your DM's style with rests, it can be risky or impractical to take a rest while mid dungeon crawl, but the spans of time between fights spent is where this item shines. A 12th level fighter with 125 HP will regain an average of 30 HP in an hour using this ring, or near a fourth of their total HP. Onis and Trolls, as npc monsters, don't typically have to deal with the rest/recovery process, and a passive buff like this one would be next to useless, as monsters who encounter the PCs typically end up dead in a few minuets.
I like the idea of a physician having one of these as an heirloom, and he travels around, charging only for room and board as he lends the ring to invalids until they're healed, then moving on to the next village.
Is a platypus controlling him?
That's fine, you can regain them.
The one thing that I cannot figure out about this ring is the limb regrowth.
If I have a character who is an amputee prior to attuning to such a ring, will they begin to regrowth the missing limb? Or does the effect only apply after the attunement. How does the ring know?
I just made an NPC that randomly found this, forcing them to become a person of importance in a much grander story. I think my party is going to enjoy them.
If you are wearing this, could you technically sell your kidneys on the black market Infinitely since the grow back?
What is your pain tolerance like? I imagine they count as “body parts” so removing both kidneys kill you because you’d be below 0HP at some point over the next several days as they regrew. If one kidney, it would be helpful to know your game’s definition of medieval “surgery” and the attendant chance of sepsis. I note the ring doesn’t say anything about disease.
You could definitely keep a flesh eating plant or something, though. In that circumstance, I’d hate to be your house sitter.
So once per a fight you can use this as a 1d6 heal. Even if you die you get back up no matter what unless (ring is taken, or hand wearing ring is cut off). A normal short rest gives me full hp without using any of the HP dice usually**. The ring is incredibly strong if approved as a magic item, and wearing multiple rings would make you insanely powerful.
deffinitly makes you or whoever's wereing it the Big Bad Evil Guy that just wont die (for some reason)
mabey the regeneration could be "While wearing this ring during combat every round you regen 1d6 hit points" but you dont regen out of combat
Yep, he who lives and runs away, lives to fight another day.
That is healed with Greater Restoration. This spell heals/ removes conditions that affect abilities.
Doesn't specify the time of its first effect. It doesn't state wait 10 minutes, just every. I allow immediate boost of 1D6 so that helps in combat, next time its 10 minutes at which point Limbs start to regrow. Seems reasonable?
Image a DM putting this on a Dragon and no one checks out the dead Dragon. 😁
And then in 10 minutes you have your arm and leg back. SO I CAN GET A TON OF THEM!!!
