Wondrous Item, common

Every brush of air across your skin feels like silk, every groove in a surface like a hidden map whispering its secrets beneath your touch.

Upon contact with bare skin, chaunsel makes the affected area extremely sensitive for up to 10 minutes. It is often used by thieves or others working in darkness, applied to their fingertips to make them able to feel tiny details, seams, and such. A creature adds +2 to its Intelligence (Investigation) or Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on touch while chaunsel is applied to the fingertips.

Sensualists sometimes use the drug for more... pleasurable purposes.

The drug is a secret-recipe mixture of herbal distillations, plant saps, and animal secretions.

Affected creatures: Humanoids. Fey, Fiends, and Celestials can end the effects at any time as a Bonus Action.

Average price on the black market: 15 gp (1 dose)

Chaunsel Quirks (Optional)
When you apply Chaunsel, roll a d6 for a strange side effect:

  1. Phantom Touch. You swear you feel hands brushing against your skin, even when no one is near.

  2. Texture Fascination. You become obsessed with running your fingers along fabrics, stones, or carvings, sometimes forgetting the task at hand.

  3. Painful Pleasure. Even the prick of a thorn or nick of a blade feels strangely pleasurable—though the damage is real.

  4. Echoing Caress. A sensation lingers after contact—when someone touches you, you keep feeling it for a full minute.

  5. Pulse-Seeker. You can feel the heartbeat of others with even the lightest touch; sometimes you can’t resist reaching out.

  6. Skin Map. Every touch leaves behind the impression of a “mark” on your skin, like invisible writing, which only you can “feel-read.”
