Wondrous Item, uncommon (requires attunement)
These boots have 4 charges and regain 1d4 expended charges daily at dawn. While wearing the boots, you can take a Magic action to expend 1 charge, gaining a Fly Speed of 30 feet for 1 hour. If you are flying when the duration expires, you descend at a rate of 30 feet per round until you land.

Posted Dec 9, 2024This formulation is much more reasonable for an uncommon item that grants flying. The old version effectively let you fly all the time (or any time it would be relevant other than trying to fly somewhere overland for 8 hours). Having discrete uses instead of having to track flight time (flashbacks to working at a law firm and tracking my time...) is also much less work for everyone involved. Good redesign!

Posted Dec 18, 2024Well said, the old version was, I believe, 4 straight hours of flight in a single burst which was ridiculously good for what was just an uncommon item. It's still good, but now there might actually be some breaks and times where you don't have access to flight.

Posted May 7, 2026If I use the longstrider spell does it add to this movement speed?

Posted May 15, 2026Changes to Your Speeds. If an effect increases or decreases your Speed for a time, any special speed you have increases or decreases by an equal amount for the same duration. For example, if your Speed is reduced to 0 and you have a Climb Speed, your Climb Speed is also reduced to 0. Similarly, if your Speed is halved and you have a Fly Speed, your Fly Speed is also halved.*
In my personal ruling, you'd need to activate the boots first to get a Fly Speed, then use Longstrider to add to it. Depends on your DM, or your ruling, if you are the DM.
