The DDB Mobile App Beta Has Launched!

I'm happy to share that the D&D Beyond mobile app has now entered the beta phase and is available to the public in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

For the initial beta release, we have focused on eReader access for all of your Compendium content. Other parts of the DDB toolset - such as the spells, magic items, and monsters listings, homebrew creation, or the character builder/ sheet - will be added in later phases of the beta. We'll share more about those elements when we have updates.

Just as with the website beta period, the Compendium forms the backbone of everything that comes after it, so we're taking a similar approach for the mobile app. We truly appreciate your help during beta testing to polish the app further and prepare for the future phases.

For now, enjoy the freedom of having your D&D digital library available anytime, anywhere!

Note: If you participated in the alpha, we highly recommend that you uninstall/ delete the alpha version of the app and use a fresh beta install!

Sweet. Despite being alpha and now beta, I'm loving the product so far. Having the books on my devices is great. Looking forward to seeing the revamp of the character sheet.

I'm curious if the DDB team is going to enable offline character creation as well since the website has it.

I would only ask that a version of the app be made for Windows 10/Mobile. I dinnae ken why everything is made for Apple/Google when one only hears horror stories about those platforms.

Most of the companies and developpers don't take windows phones into consideration, because a very low volume, and relatively more costly to do the coding. :( There are more complains about those platforms only because there are more users. But I know some people who loves android or ios, but none who would be especially fond of Windows platform. I was planning to get one though, because I like win10 very much, but as they have half of the apps, that's a bit disappointing.

btw I'm seeing 158mb storage used after downloading just the Basic Rules. Looks like it's just under 80mb after clearing local data (no compendiums downloaded). I think it'd be nice to expose that info in the GUI. I'd like to know how much storage I'm committing to when I click to download it.

on the Android version before clicking download my phone is telling me the size of each file before downloading. Are you using an apple device? If so may be worth pointing out on feedback?

Well, when doing searches in the website's compendium, "select sources" exists as a filter in the advanced filters

Just want to toss it out there that you can install the google play store on things like the fire tablet. Just google "play store on fire tablet" and you'll find instructions. Don't need to jailbreak or anything, it's super simple to do.

Yeah I went back and noticed that it said 18mb for the Basic Rules after I click to download ... which is acceptable but not ideal imo. But what doesn't add up is the 18mb vs the actual storage difference I mentioned.

Side note: is the only way to delete downloaded modules clearing all data? I'd like the ability to delete one module at a time from the gui. Maybe even all modules from the gui and not rely on the OS gui.

Will people who have access to content through a campaign have access on the app? Some people in my campaign can only access the basic rules on the app but have access to all purchased content on the website.

Not yet, but that will be popping in to the app in an upcoming update.
