Greetings Everyone!
We're happy to announce the Digital Dice Alpha is now live on the Character Sheet for subscribers only.
These digital dice will help you reduce the math you have to do when playing D&D. We encourage everyone to give them a roll and tell us how they feel!
If you'd like to turn off Dice rolling on the character sheet for any reason, you can click on your character dropdown and toggle the Digital Dice off.
As a thank you, you will also receive a free set of Old School dice that celebrates our roots. You can activate them by going to the My Dice page under "Collections" on the top nav.
If you'd like to learn more about how to use the dice or to give us feedback, visit our Digital Dice Feedback Forum.
Thanks all. Happy rolling!

Maybe take a look at Fantasy Grounds. They just have small buttons bottom left for adv/disadv and also modifiers for cover. Works well. Needless to say if you have a persistent advantage on an ability on your character sheet it should roll that way automatically.
It needs to also take into account spells in effect on attack roles.
So for instance have the option to add Hunters Mark damage or various weapon mod damages. I've used added "attacks" to achieve this, but it would be nice to be able to add these modifiers automatically or via simple tick boxes.
I wish there was a dice roling opiton on the Ability Scores page of the Character Buildter.
Great tool, thank you very much.
Themed dice sets would also be a very nice pre-order incentive.
This is awesome! I don't need to carry, well, anything really at this point besides a miniature. I'm glad I invested into making this site the epicenter of my DnD life.
The only thing I wish they had would be the classic dice on a table sound
will there be plans to add the extra modifiers for rolls like the flametongue where it just rolls the weapon and there no no option to toggle on and off flame damage
Hi Wizards of the Coast guys, I found my first bug, Chaos Bolt when you roll damage on rolls the D8s and not the D6. Ill let you know if I find more love the dice great tool
it's only alpha I'm sure it'll improve look how far the character sheet has come in a few years :)
+1
I would also appreciate if it would be possible to configure the count of results in the history of rolls. For example a slider from 1-X, where X is a for the UI manageable number.
Edit: It would be nice if the highlighted numbers would match the selected theme for the character sheet.
Can/will the dice roller be part of the section in character creation for attributes?
I can't open any of my characters since this feature was enabled — I'm seeing a beholder instead. Here's an example error code a97000e936a04dffaa44770fdf991c8a. I'm getting successful responses from all XHR requests, including the character-service; all the data appears to be correct.
The only error in console i'm seeing is a failure to create a WebGL context. Presumably this feature was added in such a way that JS creates a WebGL context on page load, and fails rendering the page completely if it fails. Not every browser supports WebGL — mine doesn't (I'm on Linux and my GL driver is having issues since last couple of updates, so this feature is in fact unavailable on any browser on my system at the moment). So this relatively unimportant feature makes the entire character database completely unusable to me.
Can you please either only start WebGL prior to it actually being used, not or page load, or add some proper exception handling to gracefully disable this feature and continue page rendering if it fails? Right now your service is completely broken for all users with subscription but without ability to run WebGL-enabled browser.
Important note: D&D Beyond isn't owned or operated by Wizards of the Coast. They're a separate company.
Chaos bolt, like a lot of other features, is an odd duck because it has a secondary dice expression (the d6) that isn't listed in the main spell list. The dice roller only rolls primary dice expressions (the 2d8 in chaos bolt)
I'm sure as they develop the feature, there'll start adding adjustments to the dice expressions for specific spells, so best think of this less as a bug and more as a pending feature.
The dice rolling animation is incredibly slow on Chrome for me but it's absolutely smooth on Firefox. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration, still slow, then re-enabling hardware acceleration and still slow.
Anyone had any luck resolving the slow animation on Chrome?
This is such a cool feature! Thank you D&D Beyond team :)
looks really good for an alpha and im having fun with it, needs to be implemented for special things like sneak attack and force ballista attack though.
I don't know how much we'll use it as I'll have a hard time checking what my players have rolled. But I think it's an awesome idea and I hope to see it develop!
I'm also going to need more dice variety, like the backgrounds of the character sheets. Thanks!
That's great! The only thing that i look forward now is a virtual boardgame, you could make me the happiest men in the world
It looks great, but after testing, it only appears on the individuals character sheet.
It'd be nice if there was an area in the campaign, where you could drag your encounters (and the creatures therein), along with your players, in order to roll the dice for each. This would allow everyone to see the rolls, but also allow for the DM only to opt to hide his rolls from the party (for you roll fudgers out there).
I really like the new addition, but there are a few things to improve:
Are there any plan to release more digital dice sets? And if so, will they be free or paid?
