At MagicCon: Chicago, fans were treated to an incredible weekend of Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons panels, play events, and exclusive previews. If you missed out on MagicCon: Chicago, here's your recap on the latest news:
D&D Live - Baldur's Gate: From Hags to Liches

At MagicCon's D&D Live show, four familiar adventurers found themselves entangled in a simple delivery job that, in true Baldur's Gate fashion, spiraled into absolute chaos.
Joining the adventure were Neil Newbon as Astarion, an Elf Arcane Trickster Rogue; Samantha Béart as Karlach, a Tiefling Barbarian; Theo Solomon as Wyll, a Fiend Patron Warlock; and Devora Wilde as Lae'zel, a Githyanki Fighter. Guided by the incredible Aabria Iyengar as Dungeon Master, the cast of Baldur's Gate 3 brought their characters to life in a one-shot adventure full of hijinks, hilarity, and, of course, a little danger.

Here Be Dragons: Inside the Iconic Monster in D&D and Magic Panel
Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering took to the stage to discuss one of the most iconic monsters in the fantasy genre—dragons! During this panel, the D&D team looked back at dragon art from through the decades and explored the dragon redesigns in the new Monster Manual. Fans also got a sneak peek at the traditional and alternate covers for Dragon Delves, an upcoming collection of dragon-themed adventures!

Each adventure in Dragon Delves highlights a specific type of metallic or chromatic dragon and spotlights an illustrator and their distinct artistic style (see below). You'll also find each adventure is accompanied with a gallery of dragon art from throughout the game's history.

Crossovers: From MTG to D&D and Back Again Panel

Over the years, D&D and Magic: The Gathering have had many crossovers, from the Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica to the MTG set Adventures in the Forgotten Realms. During a panel that explored these crossovers and the work and collaboration it takes to bring them to life, we announced that for the first time, D&D is heading to Lorwyn–Shadowmoor!
Lorwyn–Shadowmoor is a unique dual plane in the MTG multiverse, with both Lorwyn and Shadowmoor representing two sides of the same coin. Lorwyn is a plane of light and peace, where tribes of fairytale creatures, such as elves, faeries, and treefolk, live in a thriving nature-filled world. This idyllic plane, untouched by night or winter, follows an ancient cycle—one that, every three centuries, transforms it into Shadowmoor.
Shadowmoor is Lorwyn's dark reflection, a land of perpetual dusk where its inhabitants become twisted versions of themselves.
Stay tuned for more information on D&D's crossover to this unique setting!
Legends of Greyhawk: Campaign Update

MagicCon: Chicago has come and gone, and the preview adventures for Legends of Greyhawk saw players descend upon the Flanaess to be the first to create characters and journey into the new campaign.
Three adventures were playable as a part of the preview offering, plus a special fourth adventure set seven years before the campaign's start in 576 CY, where the actions of those characters shaped the future of Legends of Greyhawk. All adventures were designed and hosted by Baldman Games at the show.
Village of Hommlet, Darkness in Nulb, and Ruins of the Moathouse (an exclusive for Level 20 VIPs at MagicCon: Chicago) were the preview adventures, each revisiting a classic location in the Central Flanaess and pitting low-level adventurers against threats both familiar and new. At the conclusion of the weekend, a few characters reached level 3, laden with some magic items and treasure for their efforts.
Battle of Emridy Meadows, a grand special event, took place once each day of MagicCon: Chicago and had adventurers fighting alongside Prince Thrommel IV's army against the collected might of the forces of Elemental Evil. Set years in the past, during the battle, it was revealed that three scheming factions were attempting to advance their own plans amidst the chaos. Ultimately, the agents of two other evil factions were thwarted, leaving the Elder Elemental Eye in a position of power—setting up a conflict that will echo throughout upcoming adventures!
If you missed out on the adventures at MagicCon: Chicago, they'll be replaying at a few events later this year. Look for these previews at the following conventions:
- PAX East (Darkness in Nulb only)
- Origins Game Fair
- Comic-Con International (SDCC)
- Gen Con Indy (in addition to new adventures)
Legends of Greyhawk will be launching at Gen Con Indy 2025, so stay tuned for more information as we get closer to the campaign's debut!

More Adventures to Come
Thank you to everyone who came out to MagicCon: Chicago! We had an absolute blast celebrating our community with Dungeons & Dragons panels and play events. Stay tuned for more information about more D&D appearances at conventions to come!

Will they ever release the Legends of Greyhawk adventures on D&D Beyond?
Maybe after they are done with their "run". I hope so. I hated it being unavailable with this exclusive too bad attitude that past con adventures have had. Not everyone has the ability to access these conventions. They just "miss out" and many of these adventures are really fun and should be enjoyed by a wider audience, but understand they are meant to be attraction to the cons.
Will Legends of Greyhawk be their primary adventure set within the World of Greyhawk? I've been running a homebrew setting for the past year plus, and I think diving into Greyhawk with 5.5e could be a nice change of pace.
For all the hype given to D&D at a MagicCon, it would have been great for higher level content to not have been hidden behind a paywall.
Alas, poor Wyll is a magnet for misfortune, but his heart remains pure, for he is willing to help his friends with Fireball.
God this obsession with BG3 and it's voice actors needs to end.
