Homebrew Yuan-ti Gorgon Species Details
A sub-species of the Yuan-ti. These creatures are considered abominations by the Yuan-ti, and most do not survive to adulthood because they are typically killed as soon as their petrifying gaze is discovered (which usually happens immediately after the infant opens its eyes, turning the first person it locks eyes on to turn to stone. A very few survive to adulthood and those are typically held captive and used as guardians for vast treasures or secret locations. These Gorgons usually end up insane and feral due to the isolation and bad treatment. It is extremely rare to see one in civilized society.

Petrifying Gaze
As an action, you can target one creature you can see within 30 feet of you that can see your eyes. If the creature is blind or does not have eyes, it is unaffected. At the start of the creature's turn following the gaze, the creature must make a DC 14 Constitution Saving Throw. If the saving throw fails by 5 or more, the creature is instantly petrified (turns to stone). Otherwise, a creature that fails the save begins to turn to stone and is restrained. The restrained creature must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn, becoming petrified on a failure or ending the effect on a success. Upon making the save, the creature is immune to your gaze until after the creature takes its next long rest. The petrification lasts until the creature is freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic that specifically removes petrification. If the creature made the save, the creature is immune to your gaze until after the it takes its next long rest.
NOTE: Unless the target is surprised, it can avert its eyes to avoid the saving throw at the start of its turn. If the creature does so, it can not see the medusa until the start of its next turn, when it can avert its eyes again. If the creature looks at you at any point while maintaining your gaze, it must immediately make the saving throw.
Medusa's are immune to their own gaze, however they can be affected by the gaze of another Medusa, or any other creature or magic that causes petrification.
