Homebrew 🩸 Forgotten Blood Dhapir Species Details

Lingering echoes of ancient predation

Found in the forgotten corners of the multiverse, Forgotten Blood Dhampirs are rare mortals bound to the remnants of long-dead vampiric legacies. These beings are not vampires, nor wholly alive - they walk the edge of memory and undeath, caught between what was and what remains.

A Forgotten Blood Dhampir doesn’t hunger for flesh or blood alone, but for what death steals: memory, identity, purpose. Whether cursed through ancestral ritual, haunted by a dying god’s echo, or voluntarily bound to a vampiric remnant, these individuals carry the weight of lives not their own. Their presence chills the air. Their gaze speaks of things remembered that were never lived.

Some Dhampirs isolate themselves in ruins or old libraries, listening to the whispers of dying thoughts. Others walk the world trying to understand the memories that feed them, or to preserve what time forgets. While feared in many places, they often become scholars, prophets, or grim heroes - silent witnesses to the erosion of meaning.

As a Forgotten Blood Dhampir, you have these special traits.

Darkvision

You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light.
You see in shades of gray in darkness..

Ancestral Hunger

When a creature you can see within 5 feet of you drops to 0 hit points, you may use your reaction to absorb the fading echo of their mind.

When you do so, choose one of the following effects:

  • Regain hit points equal to your Proficiency Bonus + Charisma modifier
  • Gain advantage on your next Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma check or saving throw made within 1 minute

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all uses after a long rest.

Ghostwalk

As a bonus action, you can teleport up to 10 feet to an unoccupied space you can see.
This movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.

You can use this trait once per short or long rest.

Undead Resilience

You have resistance to necrotic damage.
You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.

Lingering Memory

Once per long rest, after finishing a short rest, you can ask the DM one yes-or-no question about a creature, object, or location you can see.
