Homebrew Abysscean Species Details

Abyssceans are a relatively new race, and completely detached from the natural order. Originally created when a ruthless god rampaged and fought against an unknown entity or group of entities, the god destroyed many small coastal fishing towns off the coasts of the sea of swords. Many villagers died that day, but their remains were reborn when the god's energy and aura mixed with the slurry of dead sea animals and humans floating about in the aftermath, reanimating and creating new life in the form of Abyssceans. Coming in many different forms and shapes based on the combo of human/animal parts and minds, the few things tying the Abyssceans together as a collective is their animal and human urge to band together to survive, their collective loss of past self clashing with their current selves. They have established a grand nation off in the deep sea, with their kingdom of An'Ryezaz being the center of their power and a place to protect themselves due to the stigma their race faces, being so close in appearance to the more hostile, fish-like humanoids like Kua'Toa or Sahuagin. Also, large gatherings of Abyssceans causes a large aura inherited from the God that rampaged and inadvertently created them. This aura can reanimate and rebirth deceased humanoid bodies nearby this aura into newly formed Abyssceans, feral and crazed from the sudden rebirth into a new form and having their memories and past life suddenly feel so far away and alien.

Abysscean Traits

As a Abysscean, you have these special traits.

Abysscean Biological Attack

An Abysscean is granted an inherent weapon action where they can attack using a part of their body's phisionomoy. It can be any sort of body part or look the player imagines (i.e a an Abysscean with pufferfish traits can use an attack action to shoot out spikes at an enemy, or one with swordfish traits can use their long nose as a longsword attack, or a anemone Abysscean using an action to attack with a bludgeoning tentacle covered in acid). The caveat being that any attack you come up with for an Abysscean in question must be analogous to an existing weapon type and its existing dice count, as well as being a weapon type said action is must be a weapon proficient for the class your Abysscean is (i.e a rogue Abysscean could not use their large club tail with proficiency as that would be analogout to a great club, which rogues are not proficient with unless they take a feat to do so)

Additionally, any extra damage types an Abysscean inherentied attack has, like poison, acid, bludgeoning, piercing, etc... must have it's dice count decided between the DM and player before a session or campaign to ensure balanced gameplay. Increases to dice count during level up at specific levels is also dependent on DM/Player discussion.

The ability score type used to calculate the attack/damage roll is also dependent on the type of class the player chooses (i.e rogues roll for dex, fighters roll for strength or dex depending if their inherited attack uses a weapon with the finesse property as the base for their inherited attack and if their fighter is proficient in finesse weapons)
