Homebrew Yuruiduay Species Details

Not many souls are so brave as to venture into the mountain ranges in which beastmen lie, and those who do are not met kindly. Admittedly, not even I know much of the lives they lead, nor their culture or politics. There are very few refugees of the northern mountain tribes that come to these lands, despite the apparently numerous conflicts that arise from within their borders. Though, there is a great scholar of Yuruiduayan blood that has appeared as of late. I am yet to hear his teachings, but I am told he is... quite the character.

Hailing from the highlands and mountain peaks, suffering at the hands of long-past conflict is all-too prevalent in the lives of all those who share Yuruiduayan heritage. Cursed with frightening appearances, Yuiruduay are treated with both distrust and scorn wherever they may go.

Cursed by Distinctness

Despite their best wishes, a Yuruiduay is unmistakably different from any peers of different races. Despite being just as intelligent as a member of any other race, a Yuiruduayan's beast-like complexion might confuse those who are unfamiliar with their appearance, earning them the nickname "beastmen." Adult Yuruiduay typically stand between six and seven feet tall, and weigh between 150 and 250 pounds. All Yuruiduay have the appearance of upright goats, with thicker horns, sharp teeth, and forward, snake-like eyes. Their fur colour typically ranges in colour between pure white to a dark brown. They have pads on their hands and feet to grip surfaces, typically being a fleshy pink or brown, but they do not have noticable noses, rather having nostrils that lie upon their snouts.

Scarred and Apprehensive

No matter the location, Yuruiduay are not the type that lead easy lives. Whether it be within their own settlements or elsewhere, they will most likely face abhorrence, disdain and abuse, whether it be from fearful or hateful members of other races, or even fellow Yuruiduay of higher social status. As a result of this, most Yuruiduay, especially refugees of the numerous civil conflicts in the northern mountains of Ocria, are very distrustful of those around them. To some, even their most-trusted friends or family could conceivably betray them. To many, even without such trust issues, true allies come scarcely, and they will cling on to friends tightly.

Yuruiduay will tend to gravitate to highlands and colder areas.. A Yuruiduayan body is attuned to that type of environment, and they tend to overheat in warmer climates.

 

PERCEPTION OF MALEVOLENCE

Due to the many wars, raids and pillages orchestrated by the armies of the northern mountain tribes in the past, many common folk tend to regard Yuruiduay with suspicion. Although many Yuruiduay have no connection with the heinous acts of old, many still believe them to be inherently malicious. This, in turn, forces many Yuruiduay to prove them right, as many will have to intimidate or threaten others to claim what they need or desire.

Yuruiduay don't have an innate sense of any moral alignment, but many will gravitate to a chaotic or selfish mindset.

Speed

Your base walking speed is 35 feet.

Thickly Coated

You have resistance to cold damage.

Enduring Secrecy

You have proficiency in Sleight of Hand and Deception, as well as proficiency in one other skill of your choice. 

Expert Climber

You can move at normal speed while traversing non-magical difficult terrain. You also have a climbing speed of 20 feet.

Sharp Horns

The horns on your head are quite sharp, and you are fully capable of using them. You can use your action to swing, charge or stab using them, dealing 1d6 piercing damage.

Languages

You can speak, read, and write Common, Larian, and one language of your choosing.
