You conjure a weave of thin, sticky, steel mesh that sparks and crackles with lighting at a point of your choice within range. The mesh fills a 20- foot square from that point for the duration. The mesh is difficult terrain and lightly obscures the area.
If the mesh isn't anchored between two solid masses (such as walls or trees) or wall and ceiling, the conjured mesh covers the floor with a depth of 5 feet.
When a creature enters the Static Mesh for the first time on a turn or ends its turn there it takes 2d8+8 lightning damage.
Each creature that starts its turn in the mesh or that enters it during its turn must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is restrained as long as it remains in the mesh or until it breaks free.
A creature restrained by the mesh can use its action to make a Strength check against your spell save DC to become unrestrained.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d8 for each slot level above 3rd.
