You gesture toward a point within range, and in response, a dense thicket of sharp wooden spikes sprouts from the ground in a 50-foot radius centered on that point. These spikes create a hazardous terrain, hindering movement and posing a threat to those who traverse the area.
Effect: Creatures entering the area for the first time on a turn or starting their turn there must make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, a creature takes 2d6 piercing damage and is restrained by the wooden spikes. On a successful save, a creature takes half damage and is not restrained.
A creature restrained by the spikes can use its action to make a Strength check against your spell save DC. On a success, the creature frees itself from the spikes.
The area is considered difficult terrain, and the wooden spikes provide half-cover to creatures behind them.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 5th level or higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 4th.
