A haunting, melancholic melody echoes from your lips, sending creatures near you into a deep depression. Roll 10d8; the total is how many hit points of creatures this spell can affect.
Starting with the lowest hit points, creatures within 30 feet of you begin to fall into a deep, stuporous depression. Creatures affected by this spell stop whatever they are doing, drop whatever they are holding, and take no other action other than to lament their own misfortune. Such creatures lose all bonuses to their passive Perception, lowering it to a maximum of 10.
The spell breaks on a creature if it takes any damage, or if something happens that they would normally react violently to, such as attempting to break into a vault guarded by a lamenting sentinel.
Undead and creatures immune to being charmed cannot be affected by this spell.
While performing this spell, you cannot perform the verbal components for other spells, the spell ends if you stop singing. If you are ever in a zone of magical silence, the spell ends.
At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, roll an additional 2d8 for each slot level above 1st.
