As you hit the target, it takes an extra 2d8 Lightning damage from the attack. A number of creatures of your choice equal to this spell's level that are within 10 feet immediately take Lightning damage equal to the extra damage dealt plus your spellcasting ability modifier.
Using a Higher-Level Spell Slot. The damage increases by 1d8 for each spell slot level above 2.

We have a lot of Smite Spells, but we've always been missing two kinds of spells in this family:
I've already made a "Healing Smite" (check it out) so here's my take on a Smite for the 2024 Rules that does damage to multiple targets without being too ridiculous.
Also the name "Shocking Smite" was taken by like 50 other homebrew spells, most of which are insanely overpowered, so I decided on "Striking". You know, like a "Lightning Strike".
