You gather globs of magical fire in your mouth to breathe on a weapon within your reach, igniting it in draconic flame. This effect lasts until the spell ends. It does not effect proficiency or weapon property. On a hit, the target must make a dexterity saving throw or take an extra 2d6 fire damage. The weapon sheds dim light in a 30-foot radius. The fire can ignite any flammable objects, worn, carried or otherwise.
If you drop the weapon or throw it, it dissipates at the end of the turn. You may end the spell without touching the weapon.
At higher level
When you cast this spell using a 3rd- or 4th-level spell slot, the damage increases to 3d8. When you cast it using a 5th- or 6th-level spell slot, the damage increases to 4d8. When you cast it using a spell slot of 7th level or higher, the damage increases to 5d8.
