Base Class: Monk
The Nile and The Euphrates Rivers run through the heart of Egypt, simultaneously calm and furious, with the power to give life and to take it away, unstoppable and unrelenting. Their flowing waters a source of life and vitality, while also a source of destruction and power. Water is the element of change. Monks who follow the Way of the Twin Rivers learn to redirect the flow of battle and to manipulate the current which all living things possess. The way of the Twin Rivers focuses on the flow of energy both in the body, spirit, and in battle. Monks who follow the way of the Twin Rivers are known for healing the physical and the spiritual, but when they do take an attack stance, their movements flow with the force and grace of the winding riverbanks.
Ebb and Flow
At 3rd level, you have learned how to fend yourself against both physical and magical assailants. You gain the following benefits:
Still Blades. You can use your reaction to block or catch a weapon when you are hit by a melee weapon attack. When you do so, the damage you take from the attack is reduced by 1d10 + your Strength modifier + your monk level. If you reduce the damage to 0, you can catch the weapon in your hands, but it does not prevent the wielder from attacking again with it. You must have both hands free in order to use this feature.
Redirected Flow. When a creature misses you with a ranged spell attack roll, you can spend 1 ki point as a reaction to cause that attack to target one creature of your choice as long as the chosen target is within the spell’s range. You roll a ranged attack against the target adding your Wisdom modifier + your proficiency bonus.
Healing Oasis
Also at 3rd level, you use your connection to the life-bringing water of the rivers to transform normal water into healing waters. Once per long rest, you may take 10 minutes to make a number of Potions of Healing equal to your proficiency bonus.
At 6th level, you may turn water into Potions of Greater Healing following the same rules.
River's Rebuke
Starting at 6th level, you let the twin rivers guide your movement and learn how to deal with multiple foes at once. You gain the following benefits.
Rising Tides. As a bonus action, you can use the Rising Tides technique. While using the Rising Tides technique, for every 10 ft in a straight direction you move you can add an extra monk die to your next melee attack, up to four additional dice.
Furious Torrent. Whenever you hit a creature with a monk weapon or an unarmed attack, you may spend 2 Ki points to have any number of creatures within 5 ft. of you take damage equal to the attack.
Water's Clarity
At 11th level, you have become more attuned to your environment and more aware of the flowing Ki of living creatures around you. You gain proficiency in the Perception skill if you don't already have it, or expertise if you do, and you add your proficiency bonus to initiative rolls.
Surging Flood
Starting at 17th level, you learn to focus your Ki into a powerful surge of energy, channeling either life or death. As an action, you touch one creature within 5 ft. of you, and expend between 1 and 10 Ki points. If you choose death, the target must make a Constitution saving throw against your Ki save DC. On a failure, the creature takes 2d10 force damage per Ki point spent, or half as much damage on a success. If you choose life, the target gains 2d10 hit points per Ki point spent. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until after a long rest.
