WAY OF THE BREWING STORM FEATURES

SPARKING BLOW

Beginning when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, the sheer speed and force of your strikes can generate sparks. The first time you hit a creature with an unarmed strike on each of your turns, you deal additional lightning damage equal to 1d8 + half your monk level. You also learn how to put the thunderous roar of storms behind your punches and kicks as an ability. Increase the Monk Martial Arts damage die by one size: 1d4 becomes 1d6, 1d6 becomes 1d8, 1d8 becomes 1d10 and finally 1d10 becomes 2d6. You can choose to deal the following damage types with your Thunderous Blows: bludgeoning, lightning or thunder damage. In addition, you become as fast as lightning, and gain 10 feet of additional movement.

THUNDEROUS KI

Also at 3rd level, you learn to clap your hands together and create a thunderous sound that blasts your foes. You learn the cantrips Shocking Grasp, Lightning Lure, and Thunderclap. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells. Furthermore, when casting any of these cantrips, you can still use your bonus action to make an unarmed strike. You can't use this bonus action to make a Flurry of Blows, as normal.

KI ARC

Beginning at 6th level, you can arc ki energy between your fists for more potent attacks. When you damage a creature with your Sparking Blow feature, you can spend 2 ki points to deal an additional 2d8 lightning damage to the target.

Storm’s Fury

At 6th level you also gain access to spellcraft. You may spend a number of ki points listed on the table bellow to cast your spells, instead of gaining spell slots. See chapter 10 for general rules of spellcasting. To cast these spells, you use its casting time and other rules, but you don't need to provide the material components for it. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

STORM BATTERY

At 11th, level, you have become a battery for storm energy. You have resistance to lightning damage and thunder damage. Additionally, when you take lightning damage, you can use your reaction to absorb some of its voltage and regain a single ki point.

Storm’s Wrath

At 11th level, you learn how to meld your lightning into the ki of others. When you hit a creature with a melee weapon attack, you can spend 4 ki points to attempt a paralyzing strike. The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be paralyzed until the end of your next turn. If this creature is wearing metal armor, the creature makes this roll with disadvantage. In addition, you can cast the Haste spell on yourself, and without spend ki points or using material components. Once you do this, you can't do it again until you finish a long rest.

 CHAIN ARC

At 17th level, your strikes are so blisteringly fast that the sparks they generate jump from creature to creature. When you deal lightning damage to a creature with your Sparking Blow feature, you can choose up to two other creatures within 10 feet of the target, dealing the same amount of lightning damage to each. If you spend ki points to increase the damage of your Sparking Blow, this increase in damage applies to each creature you hit.

Heaven's Judgement

Starting at 17th level, you can also spend up to your maximum amount of additional ki points to create an aura of lightning around you. Up to five creatures you designate within 15 feet of you suffer damage equal to 1d10 for each 2 ki points spent on a failed Dexterity saving throw, or half as much damage on a successful one.

Additionally, for 1 minute, any creature that starts or end its turn within 10 feet of you suffers 1d10 of lighting damage. If you spent 10 or more Ki points you gain the effects of haste. If you spend 20 ki points, this effect lasts 2 minutes and the damage caused to any creature that start or end its turn within the area increases to 2d10 lightning damage. You must complete a long rest to use this ability again.
