Weapon Tinkers can create a machine that can take the form of many weapons, and it improves as you gain artificer levels

 

Tool Proficiency

You gain proficiency with smith's tools. If you already have this proficiency, you gain proficiency with one other type of artisan's tools of your choice.

Weapon Tinker Spells

You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Weapon Tinker Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don't count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Arcane Craft

Your tinkering has yielded a product, a customizable weapon to take the form of many different weapons. As an action, you can begin crafting a weapon of your choice. You must have the Tinker's Weapon and a set of either tinker's tools or smith's tools to create this weapon. You must concentrate on this action for 10 minutes to create or change the shape of the Tinker's Weapon. You must be proficient with the weapon you choose to craft. The Tinker's Weapon is considered magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical damage. The Tinker's Weapon allows its maker to use their Intelligence modifier to your attack bonus. Finally, the Tinker's Weapon can act as your spellcasting focus.

-Melee Weapons

-Ranged Weapon

Martial Tinkering

Your Tinker's Weapon can now be crafted into any type of weapon, and you gain proficiency with whichever form of weapon your Tinker's Weapon takes. Your proficiency extends to any weapon of the same type as your Tinker's Weapon and the proficiency changes when the weapon type of your Tinker's Weapon changes.

Supercharged Mechanics

Your Tinker's Weapon becomes a +1 magical weapon when you use it. Additionally, you can choose one benefit to occur when you attack with it:

  • You can attack twice, rather than once, whenever you take the Attack action with this weapon. 
  • You can cast a cantrip or 1st-level spell with a casting time of 1 action as a bonus action. 
  • You can Overhaul your weapon, causing your target to take 6d4 extra Lightning damage on a hit. 

You can choose which benefit to take after your attack roll. 

Shiftinng Technology

At the end of a short or long rest, you can preset two weapon types to your Tinker's Weapon. As a bonus action, you can switch between your two preset weapon selections. Additionally, as a reaction, whenever an enemy hits you with an attack, you can shift your Tinker's Weapon into a shield. Your Tinker's Weapon is a +2 magical weapon and the shield is a +1 magical shield.
