Monk
Base Class: Monk

Monks who practice the Way of the Flipped Bird have been beaten down by the world.  They have been given the short end of the rope too many times.  Something wells up inside you and raises your arm aloft with one single finger pointing skyward.  Those who witness the Flipped Bird shudder in fear, gasp in horror, or recoil in disgust.  A monk who flips the bird will forever turn their anger and frustration into one single gesture that will leave their foes rethinking their next moves.  Flip your bird skyward and take on the world.

Skyward Finger

Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, you gain the cantrip Vicious Mockery with a few caveats:

  • You spend a ki point to cast it, but you cast it as a bonus action or reaction.
  • Instead of verbal components you cast it with somatic components (I'm sure you can guess which one that is).
  • Your version of vicious mockery must be seen.  Those who are blind or behind total cover can not be affected by this version of vicious mockery.

F**K YOU! FIGHT ME!

At 6th level, you can expend a ki point as a bonus action and with your mighty flipped bird and words to match, you compel a creature that can see and hear you to fight you.  They must succeed on a wisdom saving throw equal to 10 + your wisdom modifier + your proficiency bonus or be compelled to fight you and only you.  If they try to attack anyone other than you they get disadvantage.

Double Birds

Beginning at 11th level you can use your Skyward Finger version of Vicious Mockery twice with one bonus action.  If you spend one ki point you can hit two targets that can see you, but if you spend two ki points you can target one creature that can see you.  You must have both hands free and of course just like the last one the target must be able to see you.

F**k This I'm leaving!

At 17th level, once per long rest you can expend 4 ki points and both hands raised in a rude gesture to teleport 60 ft to a spot you choose that you either can see or remember seeing nearby.  Such a rude gesture coupled with an immediate exit will cause all beings within a 30ft radius to make a CON saving throw (10 + Wisdom Modifier + Proficiency Bonus) or take 10d10+10 Force Damage and be knocked prone.  They take half as much on a successful save and are not knocked prone.  This move is so rude that the targets do not need to be able to see you or hear you.  They know what you just did.
