Investigator Instincts

3rd-level Arcane Investigator feature

At 3rd level, your commitment to the craft of investigation allows you to tap into a heightened sense of awareness. Choose two skills from the following list: Investigation, Insight, Perception, or Persuasion. If you are not already proficient in the chosen skills, you gain proficiency. You get another skill proficiency at level 7 and 11. You also gain proficiency with Calligrapher's supplies, a tool that proves invaluable in recording and deciphering information.

Furthermore, your keen focus on perfecting your investigative prowess grants you expertise in one skill at 3rd level. At 7th level, you gain expertise in an additional skill further solidifying your status as a master investigator.

At 7th level, you gain expertise in an additional skill further solidifying your status as a master investigator.

You gain proficiency in Perception.

Detective Spells

You always have certain spells prepared after you reach particular levels in this class, as shown in the Arcane Detective Spells table. These spells count as artificer spells for you, but they don’t count against the number of artificer spells you prepare.

Deductive Combat

3rd-level Arcane Investigator feature

Beginning at 3rd level, your investigative acumen seamlessly integrates into your combat style, allowing you to exploit the weaknesses of your foes with strategic precision. At the start of each of your turns, you can roll a D20 as a free action. If you later use your attack action, you can choose to use the result of that dice instead of rolling. If you use that result, you can add your Intelligence modifier instead of your Strength or Dexterity for that attack and damage.

Born Resourceful

3rd-level Arcane Marksman feature

Starting at 3rd level, your meticulous approach to arcane study allows you to perform your spells with a methodical precision. Every spell you have prepared can be cast as if it had the Ritual tag. Additionally, whenever you gain extra spells from your expanded spell list, you also gain an occult trinket. These trinkets, can take any form you like, a ring, trinket, necklace…  and they are imbued with arcane significance. This occult trinkets can store one spell chosen by you from any class. The spell must be of a level which you can cast. Once per long rest, you can invoke the power within the occult trinket to cast the stored spell without expending a spell slot.

Precision Strike

5th-level Arcane Detective feature

Starting at 5th level, your combat prowess becomes even more lethal as your calculated attacks find their mark with devastating precision. Whenever you use your deductive combat dice to determine the result of an attack roll, you deal additional damage equal to 2d10 of the same damage type dealt by the weapon. At 11th level, the extra damage increases to 4d10, and at 20th level, it rises to 6d10. 

Insightful Approach

9th-level Arcane Detective feature

Beginning at 9th level, your mastery of deductive reasoning allows you to anticipate the most effective course of action during moments of crisis, especially when it comes to evading or enduring magical effects. As a reaction when a creature within 30 feet of you (including yourself) makes a saving throw, your intuitive insights guide their actions.

  • You can change any saving throw around you as a reaction to a Intelligence saving throw. 

  • If the enemy target fails this save, it experiences the repercussions of your precise deduction, taking psychic damage equal to the bonus damage granted by your Precision Strike feature.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain expended uses after completing a long rest.

Mind Game

15th-level Arcane Detective feature

At 15th level, your mastery of deductive reasoning allows you to ensnare the minds of your adversaries, weaving intricate mind games that grant you unparalleled advantages. Once per short rest, as a bonus action, you can channel your deductive power toward one creature within 60 feet. The target must make an Intelligence saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failed save, the creature is considered under your mind games.

Mind Games Effects: A creature under your mind games experiences the following effects:

  • You have advantage on all skill checks for skills you are proficient in when used against the target.
  • You have advantage on your Deductive Combat rolls against the target.
  • The creature suffers a penalty to all its rolls equal to your Intelligence modifier.
  • All attacks and spells deal an extra 2d6 psychic damage to the target.

These mind games persist for 10 minute or until you lose concentration as if you were concentrating in a spell.
