Base Class: Monk
I based this subclass after a mod for the game Paper Mario 64, called Paper Mario: Dark Star Edition, originally created by ShadeBlade. If you are interested in a harder challenge than vanilla Paper Mario, visit the Star Rod Modding Discord server to download the mod.
In Paper Mario 64, there is a toad you can fight called The Master. This is a Superboss who ShadeBlade created additional abilities for to make the fights even more challenging. Those abilities were the inspiration for this subclass.
Quick to fight
Starting at 3rd Level, when combat begins, on your first round only, when you perform Flurry of Blows as a Bonus Action, you perform 4 unarmed strikes instead of 2. These addition attacks do not require an additional Action, Bonus Action, or additional Ki Points.
Returning Fire
Starting at 6th Level, each time you take damage during combat, all future attacks you perform deal an additional +1 damage. This damage is applied after all other modifiers. The amount of additional damage stacks to a maximum of Half of your total Monk Levels.
Spell Drain
At 11th Level, when performing an attack, you may spend Ki points to drain the mana from your opponent, as long as they have Spell Slots/Points to lose.
The Ki point cost is equal to the level of spell slot you wish to drain.
A Level 1 Spell slot requires 1 Ki Point. A level 2 Spell slot requires 2 Ki Points. Etc.
If using the variant rule "Spell Points" instead of Spell Slots, the amount of Ki Points you spend, multiplied by 2, is how many Spell Points are drained.
1 Ki Point equals 2 Spell Points. 2 Ki Points equals 4 Spell Points. Etc.
Defense Piercing
Starting at 17th Level, when you succeasfully hit a target, you may spend 7 Ki Points to reduce the target's Armor Class by 1d4.
This effect only works once per creature. The effect ends if the affected creature goes unconscious.
