Base Class: Paladin
A paladin can swear their oath to many things, a deity, a concept, a virtue. Some paladins swear their oaths to a powerful dragon, or even a draconic deity, some simply swear an oath to resemble a dragon in nature and deeds. These oaths grant them might and powers resembling those of the creatures they embody. One who swears to embody a metallic dragon might be a proud defender of their friends and allies, channeling a dragon's might to smite those who would harm what they cherish. One who swears to embody a chromatic dragon might be a vicious warrior who destroys all who stand in their way, and takes anything they want by force. And those who swear to embody gem dragons might be nuanced individuals who seek to fulfill their own ends with their great might. The paladins who take this oath are as varied as the dragons they revere.
Tenets of Dragonkind
- Garner Admiration. Your presence should be known and felt by all, whether it be fear or respect.
- Protect that Which is Yours. Everything that you cherish must be protected by your fearsome presence, none shall harm or take what is rightfully yours.
- Witness Legends. You shall see your actions change the very world you walk upon, and the lives of those around you. Your name and deeps, whether noble, wicked, or otherwise impactful will be told for generations to come.
Draconic Smite
When you take up this oath at 3rd level, your Divine Smite becomes Draconic Smite. When spending a spell slot to Draconic Smite you can deal elemental damage of your choice, corresponding to the dragons that represent your oath. For example, a paladin of Tiamat would have access to all the elements that chromatic dragons represent. The extra damage is 2d8 for a 1st-level spell slot, plus 1d8 for each spell level higher than 1st. When smiting in this way you lose the extra 1d8 to fiends and undead.

Additionally, when you cast Chromatic Orb, Dragon’s Breath, and Summon Dragon, the spell can use any damage type from your Draconic Smite options
Frightful Presence
As a bonus action, or as part of the same bonus action you use to cast Draconic Smite, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to channel the intimidating presence of a dragon and let out a terrifying roar. All creatures of your choice within a 30-foot sphere centered on you that can see or hear you must make a Wisdom saving throw against your Paladin spell save DC or be frightened of you for 1 minute. If a creature frightened by this effect ends its turn more than 30 feet away from you, it can attempt another Wisdom saving throw to end the effect on it.
Wrath of the Dragon
As a bonus action, you can expend one use of your Channel Divinity to channel the might of a dragon and break the spirit of those who witness it. For 1 minute, all creatures of your choice within a 10-foot emanation gain a bonus to weapon and unarmed strike damage rolls equal to your Proficiency Bonus. A creature can benefit from this feature from only one paladin at a time. This effect ends early if you are incapacitated.
The emanation increases to 30-feet at 18th level in this class.
Aura of Draconic Fury
Starting at 7th level, when a creature within your Aura of Protection fails a saving throw that causes it to take damage, you can cause the creature take additional damage equal to your charisma modifier (minimum of 1).
Wings of Time
When you reach 15th level, your connection to your draconic deity or sworn dragon has granted your body and soul draconic properties. You either age at the pace of your sworn dragon, or not at all if you swore your oath to a draconic deity, and you can't be unwillingly aged magically.
In addition, when a hostile creature ends their turn within your Aura of Protection, you can use your reaction to form spectral wings from your back and beat them to create a powerful blast of wind. Every creature of your choice within your Aura of Protection must pass a Strength saving throw against your Paladin Spell Save DC or take 4d6 force damage and be pushed 10 feet away from you. A creature that is at least 2 size categories larger than you makes this save with advantage.
You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of once), and you regain all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.
Scaled Champion
At 20th level, your devotion to your oath has caused your draconic might to resemble that of an ancient dragon. As a bonus action, your form grows draconic in a way of your choice, your creature type becomes Dragon, and you gain the benefits below for 1 minute. Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a Long Rest or until you restore your use of it by expending a level 5 spell slot (no action required). You can activate Wrath of the Dragon or Frightful Presence as part of the same bonus action.
The Dragon’s Curse. Enemy creatures within 30 ft of you have disadvantage on saving throws against all your paladin features (Channel Divinity saves, spell saves, etc).
The Dragon’s Wings. You sprout dragon wings that are physical or spectral (your choice) that give you a flying speed equal to twice your walking speed. If you already have wings, they become draconic in appearance for the duration of the transformation.
The Dragon’s Bellow. When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of your attacks with a powerful blast of draconic energy from your jaws. This weapon is a 60 foot cone or a 120 foot line that is 10 feet wide (your choice) of an element of your choice from your Draconic Smite options. Creatures in this cone must pass a saving throw against your Paladin spell save DC or take 10d6 damage of the chosen element, or half as much on a successful save. The type of saving throw depends on the damage type chosen.
