Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Consecrate the World Through Suffering

Paladiins who swear the Oath of Martyrdom believe pain is a currency. To them, suffering is not a punishment but a sacred trial, a means by which their devotion is tested and purpose purified. Their bodies are living altars, marked by scars, and thier blood is an offering willingly given so that others may endure. These paladins do no glorify death for its own sake, nor do they seek suffering without cause. They stand where the burden is greatest. At the front lines, before the helpless and aginst overwhelming odds, believing that every wound brings the world closer to sanctity. When sacrifice is needed, they do not hesitate. And if their paths ends in death, they accept it not as failure, but as the final, perfect act of devotion.

These paladins share the following tenets:
• Pain endured strengthens the soul.
• Take wounds meant for other without hesitation.
• When death comes, meet it without fear or regret.

Level 3: Oath of Martyrdom Spells

You always have these spells prepared. They don't count against your number of prepared spells.

Oath of Martyrdom Spells
Paladin Level Spells
3 Shield of Faith, Sanctuary
5 Warding Bond, At Your Side
9 Spirit Shroud, Revivify
13 Death Ward, Aura of Life
17 Destructive Wave, Dawn

Level 3: Rite of Pain

You gain the follow Channel Divinity options.

Sacrificial Strike
When you hit a creature with a melee attack, you can use your Channel Divinity to empower the blow. You take 5 radiant damage and the target takes extra 10 radiant damage. This damage ignores Resistance and stacks with Divine Smite. The self-damage ignores resistance, immunity and temporary hit points.
Note: The damage you take from this does not make you do Concentration checks (if you are concentrating on a spell).

Reprisal of the Faithful
When a creature you can see within 5 feet of you damages you, you can use your reaction and Channel Divinity to halve the damage taken, then deal 2d6 radiant or necrotic damage (your choice) to the attacker.

Level 3: Sacrificial Spellcasting

Your magic may be fueled directly by your suffering. When you cast a Paladin spell of 1st level of higher, you may choose to sacrifice your own vitality instead of expending a spell slot. You take radiant damage based on the spell's level (the table below). This damage ignores resistance, immunnity and temporary hit points and you cannot reduce or redirect this damage in any way. You can use this feature a number of times equal to you Charisma modifier

Sacrificial Spellcasting Damage
Spell Level Radiant Damage
1st 5
2nd 10
3rd 20
4th 30
5th 40

Note: The spell is cast at its base level and you don't need to make Concentration checks when you take damage from this.

Also, as a Martyr, you cannot regain hit points from spells you cast.

Level 7: Aura of Consecrated Burden

When a creature within your Aura of Protection takes damage, you may use your reaction to take that damage instead. When you've taken damage this way or from an enemy's attack, each enemy within your Aura of Protection takes radiant damage equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).

Level 15: Undying Faith

When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you instead drop to 1 hit point and you may immediately restore hit points to yourself using Lay on Hands (no action). Once you use this freature, you can't do so again until you finish a Long Rest.

Level 20: Final Martyrdom

You surrender your fate entirely to divine will. As an action, you gain the following benefits for 1 minute.

• You have Advantage on all D20 Tests.
• You have Immunity to all damage and to all conditions.
• When you deal damage with a melee weapon, you may add 10 radiant damage (no action required).

When the duration ends, you die. This death cannot be prevented, delayed or averted. You cannot be stabilized, be healed, make death saving throws or be revived by any means exept a Cleric's Divine Intervention.
