Base Class: Monk
Those who follow the path of the Unbroken Tide train in their monasteries located near the ocean or on islands surrounded by water. Their technique inspired by the flow of water is used to bolster the defence and adaptability of one's body, becoming a fluid combatant whose dance is as deadly as it is mesmerizing. When these monks harness ki to outmaneuver their opponents, they are able to move their bodies in a display that becomes difficult for enemies to predict. Monks of the Unbroken Tide are aptly titled and much like a wild tide, receding out of danger only to return with more force.
Ebb and Flow
Starting when you choose this tradition at 3rd level, when a creature provokes a reaction from you or whenever you designate an opponent as a bonus action, you gain a +1 bonus to AC and your Ki save DC by +1 against a single foe to a maximum bonus of +1. This maximum bonus increases to +2 at 6th level. In addition, you can activate Patient Defence with no ki cost a number of times between short or long rests equal to your Proficiency Bonus + your WIS modifier.
Sweeping River
Beginning at 6th level, whenever a creature misses you with a melee attack while you are in Patient Defence, you can spend 1 ki point to use your reaction to make an unarmed strike targeting the attacking creature. On a successful hit, you can choose to apply one of the three following effects:
-The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw or be knocked prone.
-The target must succeed on a Strength saving throw or be pushed up to 15 feet away from you.
-The target, no more than one size category larger than yourself, must succeed on an Athletics or Acrobatics check or become grappled by you.
Beginning at 11th level, you can spend up to 2 ki points to make two unarmed strikes, each against a separate triggering attack. At 17th level, you can spend up to 3 ki points to make three unarmed strikes, each against a separate triggering attack.
Fluid Form
Beginning at 11th level, you gain the following benefits:
-You have advantage when resisting a grappling attempt.
-Attacks of opportunity are made at a disadvantage against you.
-While prone, you do not have disadvantage on melee attack rolls. Enemies also do not gain advantage on attack rolls as a result of you being prone.
Rolling Wave Strike
At 17th level, when you take damage from a melee attack, you can use a reaction to make an immediate unarmed strike. On a successful hit, you may spend 3 ki points to reduce the damage taken from the enemy by 2d10 + your Dex modifier + your Monk level. If you reduce the damage from the attack to 0, you may then return the stored ki through your strike dealing damage equal to your unarmed strike + the reduced damage amount from the enemy’s attack.
