Paladin
Base Class: Paladin

Those who take the Oath of Destruction desire to bring change to the world. These paladins believe that stagnation leads to weakness and corruption, and will go through great lengths to carve a new path. Many are hesitant of these paladins due to their varying methods in how they achieve their goals. Paladins of this oath usually become liberators, bringing change to those who need it most by any means; become anarchist, believing that organized civilizations should abandoned; while others turn into tyrants or warlords, bringing ruin and destruction to where ever they go believing only the strong should live.

TENETS OF DESTRUCTION

The tenets of destruction vary depending on the paladins intents but tenets focus on the base principle to bring change to the world.

Strife Strengthens the Soul. Without hardship and struggle, nothing would change nor improve.

Progress Requires Change. Progress cannot be achieved without removing what is currently in place.

Nothing Stands Forever. Everything is temporary and will eventually run its course.

Oath Spells

You gain oath spells at the paladin levels listed in the Oath of Destruction Spells table. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how oath spells work.

Oath of Destruction Spells

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options. See the Sacred Oath class feature for how Channel Divinity works.

Brand of Ruin. As a bonus action, you can use your Channel Divinity branding a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you with the brand of ruin. For 1 minute, whenever you deal damage to the branded creature, it takes radiant or necrotic damage (your choice) equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1). This damage cannot be reduced by resistances or immunities. While the creature is branded as a bonus action, you can move up to half your speed towards the branded target.

Devastating Smite. When you use the divine smite feature, you can use your bonus action to use your channel divinity so you can reroll any number of your damage dice once but you must use the new roll.

Aura of Wrath

Starting at 7th level, you emanate an aura causing you and those around you to attack with more ferocity. Whenever you and friendly creatures within 10 feet of you deals damage, treat any 1 or 2 on a damage die as a 3 while you are conscious.

At 18th level, the range of this aura increases to 30 feet.

Overpowering Might

Starting at 15th level, the force of your attacks shakes even the strongest of structures. You can score a critical hit on an attack roll of 19 or 20 on the d20 and all weapon attacks gain the siege property (your attacks deal double damage to objects and structures).

Destructive Incarnate

At 20th level, you gain the ability to unleash a destructive fury. As an action, you can become an avatar of destruction, gaining the following benefits for 1 minute:

  • When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can make one additional attack as part of that action.
  • Whenever you hit a creature with a weapon attack on your turn, you can regain a number of hit points equal to your Charisma modifier (minimum of 1).
  • You ignore the damage resistances of creatures of your choice within your aura.

Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
