Sorcerer
Base Class: Sorcerer

The Duskblade blurs the line between spellcaster and warrior. A duskblade is equally adept at manipulating the weave as wielding a weapon. With both armour and weapon expertise, they are at home on the frontlines or at the back, they are able to effortlessly flow from one roll to the other as a battle progresses. In order to combine these disciplines, a duskblade learns to channel their magic through their weapons granting them unique abilities.

The Duskblade gets its name from the elite sword-wielding units of the shadar-kai in the Shadowfell. However, ambitious mages and swordfighters alike have sought out the secrets of the Duskblade. Half-elves of drow or shadar-kai descent boast the largest number of Duskblades. However, the skills and talents have slowly spread among a few elite families of all races.

Combat Training

Starting at 1st level, you have mastered the art of sword play, and martial training. You gain proficiency with simple and martial weapons, and can use one as a spellcasting focus. In addition, you gain proficiency with light and medium armour.

Channel Magic

Starting at 1st level, you learn to channel your magic through weapons you are familiar with. Whenever you complete a short or long rest, you can choose one weapon in your possession to channel your magic through.

Whenever you make an attack roll with this weapon you can use your Charisma modifier for the attack and damage rolls instead of Strength or Dexterity. In addition, whenever you cast a spell that requires a ranged or melee spell attack roll, you can instead make a melee or ranged attack with your chosen weapon. You can replace a melee spell attack with a ranged weapon attack and vice verse.

When you reach 3rd level of this class, you gain the Quicken Spell metamagic option in addition to the ones you otherwise get.

Extra Metamagic

Quickened Spell

When you cast a spell that has a casting time of 1 action, you can spend 2 sorcery points to change the casting time to 1 bonus action for this casting.

Extra Attack

At 6th level, you improve your speed and skill with your weapon. When you take the Attack action on your turn you can make two weapon attacks. In addition, if you use your action to cast a spell you can make a single weapon attack as a bonus action.

Concentrated Channelling

At 14th level, you enhance your ability to channel magic through your weapon attacks, enabling you to condense spells with a large area of effect into your weapon.

When you cast a non-concentration spell that targets an area, you can choose to target a single creature instead. This creature must be within range of your channeling weapon. Make an attack with your channeling weapon, if the attack hits it deals normal attack damage and the target is affected by the spell. If the spell requires a saving throw, the target makes the save at disadvantage.

Warrior Form

Starting at 18th level, you can spend 6 sorcery points as a bonus action to magically transform yourself into a magically-enhanced warrior for 1 minute. While in this form you add your Charisma modifier to your AC, you can quicken spells without spending sorcery points, and any spell you channel through your weapon deals addition damage equal to your level.

You remain in this form for 1 minute. It ends early if you fall unconscious, if you die, or if you dismiss it as a bonus action.
