Hello everyone!
I wanted to briefly mention a couple of updates we have released in the last couple of days that are pretty significant - the re-introduction of swiping in the digital character sheet on mobile and a new system to redeem product keys to unlock content.
Mobile Swiping
While on the mobile or tablet view of the character sheet, you can now either use the quick-jump navigation button in the bottom right corner or gesture to swipe to subsequent sections. Now that swiping moves you between sections, the sidebar is now manually pulled out with an additional button in the lower right of the screen (the sidebar will continue to come out whenever you tap a relevant word/ area for more details).
These changes are a response to a large amount of feedback we received following the sheet revamp release where many users missed swiping, but nearly as many shared they enjoyed the quick-jump nav. With this solution, we are trying to provide a hybrid that we hope will make both camps happy with navigating the sheet.
As always, we will keep an eye on the feedback and make adjustments as needed, but we think this new option brings us to a good place!
Product Key Redemption
We have also introduced a new system to redeem product keys to unlock D&D Beyond content that will immediately be used for purchasers of the Waterdeep Dragon Heist Platinum Edition box from Beadle & Grimm's to unlock the digital version of the adventure on DDB. If you haven't seen that product, I definitely encourage you to check it out!
You can redeem keys from the Marketplace > Redeem a Key menu or dndbeyond.com/marketplace/redeem-key.
Other opportunities to redeem product keys will be available in the future, and we will share more on that as we can.
Thanks all!
I have already purchased a hard copy of the players manual, is there a key I can redeem here to use the content of the manual on this site?
Short answer: no.
For the long answer and the "why not", read the previous comments where it has been answered and explained several times.
At this point they have to be trolling... one must assume that D&D players can read.
As my line manager used to say, assume makes an @$$ of u and me. ;)
Also there's several pages of comments here, it's way easier to just ask than read through all the comments; and the article does not explicitly state it isn't used for old products.
do things like the phb have keys or just box sets?
I'm new to d&d and this website. Quick question: If I buy the physical books, do they have product keys that I can enter on this website so that I don't have to buy them again online? What are my best options?
Short answer: There are no product keys in any of teh physical books. You do need to repurchase things here. (There is one specific exceptions to that, the Essentials Kit does include codes for it's adventure, and a code for 50% off the PHB here.)
I'd recommend reading about your options here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/forums/d-d-beyond-general/general-discussion/13989-a-buyers-guide-for-d-d-beyond
Thank you so much! This info helped a lot!
interesting l love good news
where do you get redemption keys
Usually you don't. There are some in the Essential Kit, giving you access to the content what's included in the box, plus a half price discount for the PHB; and the product key for dragon heist in the Beadle & Grimm box mentioned in the article; but I don't think there were any more, as it was meant to be a once-in-a-while marketing tool than a regular discount.
where is the code
The redeeming codes is so annoying, I have several books in real life and I have to buy them AGAIN to get the races for creating characters?? Can’t they just verify that I actually own the book by putting in the product number or something on the inside cover, or putting the code on the inside cover? This is a scam and I really hope that you guys at wizards of the coast fix this, please!
You own the physical books - you have paid for the typesetting and printing and the paper.
On D&D beyond you pay for the digitisation, the cross references/hyperlinks, the ability to easily search (between content and on the page), and to be able to use it in the helpful character builder that does a lot of heavy lifting for you.
Like, if you buy a book, they don’t give you a free copy of the movie adaptation or the audiobook either.
And no, thre isn’t any reliable and affordable way to check that you have purchased your book from a legitimate source and haven’t sold it again / returned it right after claiming the free copy, so there’s that too.
