Updated April/25/17 - Pricing. (And it's a good one, clearest info on it yet)
Edit: Also a heads up if people were unaware - new additions are added to the end of their respective category. If you're uncertain if there have been new, useful quotes since your last visit then skip to the end of each and see if you recognise them.
Can I give a suggestion?...I already have a D&D Insider account (still play a lot 4E)...offer a discount or bundle price for those of us who have/would like both accounts. Thanks
Hey DuneStrider, welcome to the forums! Your suggestion would be better placed in the pricing mega thread rather than here.
D&D Beyond is run by Curse on a license from Wizards of the Coast. While WotC could indeed dictate that Curse offer a discount to people with a D&D Insider account, I don't see Curse doing something like this on their own. There is likely zero overlap between the 4e tools and this site both code-wise and content-wise, and 4e is no longer being actively produced, so offering a bundle discount doesn't make a whole lot of business sense. As such, while you're free to make the suggestion, just keep in mind that it is (in my opinion) very unlikely to actually happen.
I really like what I'm seeing so far! It's actually easier to use than the books in many ways. But here's the one problem I have with it: it came too late. What about those of us that already bought the hardcover books? We have a group of 5 (4 players each with our own Handbook and a DM that has every book that's out so far) so we've already collectively dropped a few hundred dollars before this was even in beta; for us to switch to this nifty digital format now will cost another big chunk of change, which makes it much less attractive. Got any plans or ideas for people in this situation?
Have both? This tool doesn't supplant the use of a hardcover. For certain things, the hard copy is easier to reference. For other things, it's easier to search a digital database.
Just like having hard copy + PDF, each format has strengths and weaknesses. One does not completely replace the other (although you can certainly forego a format if it's strengths aren't worth the ask for you).
Kinda my thoughts, really. I actually prefer this digital (searchable/filterable) format, at least as a player, but I've (we've, more accurately) already invested in the hard copies and it's difficult to justify to myself (not to mention my wife) that the benefits of having the same thing warrant buying it all but over again. I might consider making the transition myself, but my friends don't have much of a disposable income to spend on something they already have. But maybe if they bundle all the player-oriented stuff (character generator/sheets, spells, etc) into one reasonably priced package or something, it'd be more feasible. Which is not to say, assuming this thing is up and running soon, that we may not just invest in the digital format for any new releases regardless, of course.

Well, the following is confirmed to be completely 100% free:
All content on the SRD, Basic Rules, and Elemental Evil Player's Companion (aka all the content you can currently see in the beta)
Character creation/management (up to 6 character slots)
Personal-use homebrew (sharing homebrew with others requires a subscription)
So, without paying a penny more than you've already sunk into D&D, you could have your players make use of the SRD/Basic Rules/Elemental Evil races/classes/spells/items, and whenever you have something not covered by the free rules, the player could spend the time to input it as homebrew for themselves. At least, that is my understanding of how the homebrew feature works (since phase 3 isn't out yet, I don't know for sure -- I do not have any insider knowledge into how the system will work). Purchasing the content (PHB, Monster Manual, Volo's Guide, etc.) gives access to already-input content so you don't need to spend all the time doing all the data entry yourself.
Wait until you see the additional functionality that is revealed in phases 2 & 3.
DnDBeyond is so much more than just a searchable rulebook.
I can hardly wait!
Very well. I do very much like what I've seen so far, but I'm going to hold you to that! As I kinda implied earlier, I'm just hoping to see some tangible value for those of us that are already heavily invested and I'm very excited to see what you are bringing to my table. Is there a projected timetable for each successive phase? Also, are you planning to use a subscription model or one time fee for new/additional content (even though I am certain specifics have not yet been determined)? It would be much easier to convince my group (and anyone else in a similar situation, I imagine) to consider something like this if we had this information.

Just a heads up, there's a big update on its way for this thread soon.
