So far everything is working very well. It still seems a bit bulky in creating the characters. For instance: when I create a dragonborn, I would prefer to have the sub races as the next step before you continue. And with all races it's this way if they have a su race to shoes from. The sub-race should not have a default selected as they all do. Instead it default to a must choose option where my players can't skip over the details by accident, causing waisted time at the table to go back and fix them to what they wanted but overlooked.
Thats really the the only issue we have come across and not a problem with DDB but a step you implement to save headache down the road.
Great job on sheet release!
In practice, a subrace is not optional but completely required. By combining those into a single choice, we are attempting to actually save time.
Also, dragonborn do not have subraces, so I wanted to be certain I understand your meaning!
Dragonborn do have colors that affect their stats, though, so you could say that they do have subraces.
Technically they don't. Those color choices don't differentiate their statistics enough mechanically or change their cultural/ historical lore to mean a subrace.
If the original poster is saying that the choice of dragonborn Draconic Ancestry should be somehow separated from the base race, that doesn't make sense, even if subraces were separated in the UI. So, I'm just trying to get down to what the actual feedback is saying so we can see if there's something actionable there.
Okay, that makes sense.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this yet, but there is a small problem with the Ranger menu. Two of the options listed as possible Proficiencies are missing from the drop-down menu: athletics & investigation.

Is there any chance you have those from other sources?

It might just be me, but Roguish archetypes are only showing up as thief, Arcane Trickster (The one I need) and Assassin are missing. Otherwise looks and works great so far!

Just looked at my own Ranger, they are both there under the class "proficiencies" section.

Arcane Trickster and Assassin aren't going to be available until release, at which point they will become available for purchase.

It's a beta test that only includes the content of the SRD, EE and Basic Rules.
Seriously, someone needs to build a bot to just skim all posts on this site and auto-post this response to anyone who vaguely mentions missing content not in those sources.

I'm finding the equipment management a little difficult to understand. We have 'equipped' and 'carried'. I'm not entirely sure what the difference is (especially for 'Gear'). It seems I can add 2 different armors to my gear and equip them both (the sheet gives the AC of the highest armor). Is that intended? If I add 2 Abacus to my equipment, 1 is equipped and 1 is carried. What does that mean (if anything)?
In my opinion, it might be simpler to have 'equipped' as an option for armor only and always list the attacks for all weapons that are in your equipment list? Then the equipment section could just show everything being carried and you can replace the equipped tab with the currency tab (which I feel is more important to be at hand).
Everything else has been awesome so far and looking forward to the upcoming enhancements.
It may be a good idea to go ahead and give/select recommended items and skills to help people speed up the process and/or give people a better understanding of how it should look when done.
so I decided to try a half elf sorcerer and found that only draconic bloodline is available and I can't even choose my draconic ancestry.
Hi Dandorian,
Thank you for your post - we appreciate people taking the time to give us feedback.
During the beta test of D&D Beyond, we'll only be including content that is freely available from Wizards of the Coast, including the D&D 5th edition SRD , D&D 5th edition Basic Rules, Elemental Evil Companion and potentially others. The beta will not include additional content from a Commercially Released Book, Module or Supplement.
All of the remaining published content from the PHB, DMG, MM and other D&D 5th edition books will be added to D&D Beyond for product release - the cost for accessing this material has not yet been announced.
ASI's can be spent to on an ability score that has already been maxed out. Total Score and modifier are not changing but "Ability improvements" does. If an ability score is capped, an option shouldn't be presented to increase that ability score in the ASI drop down window. You may need to account for raised caps from things like Tome of Clear Thought or Barbarian feature Primal Champion
Also, Fighter level 10 Additional fighting style should not present the fighting style already chosen at 1st level. Fighting styles can only be chosen once.
Also off-topic can we get cross-linking added for Class features? :D
I hav created various characters who have magic abilities from their race, but a spell list does not appear to load these spells. I created a Fire Genasi Monk. The Genasi racial trait reach to the blaze, i have two spells once i reach third level. I don't have a spell slot though.

For those race features, you do not need a spell slot.

Look for Racial Traits in the Limited use pane of the Character sheet.
Though looking at it I don't see the Produce Flame Cantrip available, though Burning Hands is displayed.
As a dragon born they are required to choose heritage by default it is set to copper. My player wanted silver but didn't see the drop menu after the list of heritage explanations. If you could have all sub class or heritage in dragonborn set to a default option of "must choose" in place of the first sub race or heritage in the list. That way people unfamiliar with the game would not be able to go to the next area of creation without physically choosing the subraces.
I agree the design that is laid out saves us time by far but having certain items set to an acceptable default options that a noob would not notice as being a choice they have to make halted us twice after creations.
Nothing major at all just helps the dm ensure the player has exactly what they wanted. Does this make sense?
I just finished making both the same character she made on my phone and the desktop. That being said the desktop was much easier to see everything of course and the phone easier to scroll over. Even though they are highlighted in blue and Ned attention you can skip over them to the next step by clicking next. For instance ancestory, proficiencies, spells can all be bypassed without a prompt saying "incomplete are you sure you want to continue?" Again d&d players know these things need to be addressed but those that don't and are just starting may need to be told "no this has to be completed to finish a character.

It briefly did stop you and tell you you had stuff unfinished, I don't know why it stopped doing that.
